Why does a car ignition need to be put in on for few sec. Before it starts

If u start directly it would crank n nt start or if it start it goes off after few sec.

If the ignition is put in on for few sec. Before u start
It works well

You are more likely to have a fuel pump issue.

The issue could be the 'check valve' in the fuel pump that should stabilise the fuel pressure so that you can start at once after putting off the car.
