OP, To answer your question, the reason why is simple, Nigerians love oppression once they are ones doing the oppressing. We are easily power drunk because majority of us have never held any power or position or wealth, case in point, have you seen how proud and arrogant fuel pump attendants are just because the have that little power. Imagine that guy in a position to make life changing decisions, his pride and arrogance will destroy lives.
That single trait which is cultured from deep poverty and lack of self confident is what propels Nigerians to dictators. They love that strong man arrogance, ego and pride. They see who they want to be hence the attraction
Another reason for this support is that the Average black person has a high regard for him or herself but very low regard his or her race. This is not just a Nigerian thing though.
