In "Con Air," Danny Trejo plays violent prison inmate Johnny 23, nicknamed such for his 23 rape convictions. Trejo's character is gruesomely killed by the end of the film, with his severed arm left hanging from the wreckage of a plane. In fact, Trejo is known as the actor who's died the most times on screen.

However, Trejo has had almost as many real-life brushes with death as he's had on the silver screen. The Los Angeles native survived life as a teenage thief and drug dealer, then three years in San Quentin prison's notorious North Block, known as the "Death House." Trejo was facing the death penalty for attempted murder of a prison guard when a miraculous streak of good luck led him to eventually earn parole — and completely turning his life around.
