A former hacker has revealed one method for detecting secret cameras in Airbnbs and hotels.
Marcus Hutchins, also known as @malwaretech, is a security researcher and ex-hacker who uses TikTok to post movies about cyber-security.
According to The Independent, Hutchins explained what to look out for while looking for hidden cameras at Airbnbs or hotels in an August video.
The very first aspect to watch for, according to Hutchins, is “devices that are simply positioned where a creeper would want to look.”
For his first demonstration, he pointed a spotlight to a fire alarm mounted above a bed.
“One way to see if the device is a camera is to shine a bright light at it,” the ex hacker said.
“If you hit a camera lens, it’s going to give a blue reflection.”
