INSECURITY: TACKLE TERRORISM, VIOLENT CRIMES WITH ICT.

..PASTOR GBOLADE OKENLA TELLS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

The Pastor in charge of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David Abuja, Pastor Gbolade Okenla has advised the federal government of Nigeria to deploy Information Communication and technology tools in its war against insurgency and violent crimes in the country.



Pastor Gbolade Okenla who heads The Redeemed Christian Church of God LP4 Directorate For Politics and Governance Identified some security challenges facing Nigeria to include Insurgences – Boko haram, militants, Bandits, kidnapping, Oil pipeline vandalism and theft, armed robbery among several others.


In his words, "As Ministers of the gospel, we owe our nation the duty of not only praying for the insecurity situation to end but to advice the government of measures that could be adopted to solve the insecurity challenges,


"Thus, the perennial challenges of insecurity bedeviling Nigeria should be a great concern to all Nigerian Patriot and every effort should be collectively employed to combat this monstrous challenge,


"Heads of Nigeria's security architecture should realise that Information communication technology plays a vital role in strengthening Nigeria’s National security against terrorism, violent crimes and potential threats.


"They needs to have proper Information Technology Infrastructure in place for the purpose of information gathering, sharing and dissemination as deploying Information communication technology tools will greatly assist the security agencies to identify potential threats, develop response
capabilities, provide mechanisms to protect the Nation, and guarantee internal security in Nigeria".


Pastor Gbolade Okenla therefore called for synergy between the security agencies and the private sector Information communication technology driven companies, Capacity building for security operatives, adequate border patrol, surveillance equipment to monitor people and weapon proliferations, encourage increased loyalty of security agents to avoid the leak of security information to agents of destabilization in the Country.

My guess is they are well aware of the problems and possibly the solutions but the big question is Are they willing to employ those tactical measures to end the menace. In my opinion there are evil elements in the govt who are benefiting from this and will do everything to sabotage every efforts to end insecurity epidemic bedevilled this great country.
