Why?

They are hiding under the auspice of agro to build runways where private jets can land ..ask yourself what farm produce in Ogun requires an aircraft to bring it in?

This is a fascinating deduction, Sherlock Holmes. Could you please educate us villagers as to the difference between a runway constructed for general aviation cargo flights, and a runway designated for use by "private jets" exclusively?

In the same vein, how were you able to discern the intended uses of an airport runway, purely from the photographs shown in this thread, which only happen to show an airport ACCESS ROAD because the runway phase of construction is yet to even begin?

Is your amazing conclusion based on pure speculation, or are you claiming that you can see into the future like a fortune teller who can gaze into his shriveled hairy crystal balls in search of answers defining the purpose of construction projects that have not even commenced?

We mere mortals await your magical response, good sir.

The airport is already beginning to take shape. More pictures. The governor is really serious about it.

He appears to be. Says it will be ready by November.

Your wishful thinking is noted as such, but in reality this is one project that WILL be completed in a short time frame for the following reasons.

1. The state governor's hometown is located 5 minutes drive from this airport, as is the home of Baba Ijebu, a man of major influence.

2. The state governor owns a private jet which will be able to land, take off and park in close proximity to the governor's country estate.

3. A number of expansive agricultural projects are cited within 30 minutes drive of this airport's location, facilitating swift export worldwide.

4. This airport is located just ten minutes drive from the intersection of Nigeria's two most heavily traveled highways, namely the Benin and Ibadan Expressways, thus making the location of this airport ideal for road access from multiple directions.

It’s located in Iperu which is the hometown of the Governor.

It's not only staple food that they do in farming. There are cash crops that are in high demands abroad. Some are used as industrial raw materials.

Not sure what you mean by staple food . All foods are cash foods or cash crops none is free

Still there is an opportunity cost it may be beneficial for the entrepreneur but does it benefit the country
I million acres of land used to produce so called cash crops is not available to produce so called staple foods .So if staple foods are competing with cash crops for land fertilizer and other inputs and the cash crops win what is the consequence for the local prices and availability of "staple foods"
Are we producing enough staple foods for our needs.
Finally even staple foods can be exported if producers can get a better price abroad unless there are controls and restrictions.
So one must have a broader perspective of national versus individual interest.

Looks promising! Any 3-D rendering of the terminal building? They should reach out to Obianos' team to see how to fast-track its construction and do it within budget.

The fact remains that farm produces are sold locally and internationally. That we need to increase local supply does not mean export should be halted. If a state decided to leverage export opportunities for forex earning, by building an Agro-Cargo Airport, so be it.

Efficient local supply of farm produce is hampered by national transport and logistics issues, which national rail system and road construction will address. Ogun cannot solve that problem for Nigeria. The Cargo airport is located, where there are massive farm projects. Hence, export is a good option for the state.

Words
Countries do stop exports when their people are hungry
Wake up , leave the classroom and go to the real world

What "massive" projects? Give figure in terms of Tonnes what does Ogun state produce that is so special compared e.g to Benue or Kano. Does it even produce as much as Oyo State??
Leave that yarn guy. Yes Ogun state produce some food but "massive" is an exaggeration.
Rail transport will not work if citizens are blowing them up so first they need to be disincentivized from blowing up trains.
Ogun state has problems with herdsmen attacks and it is not producing enough to feed its people. Ogun state is a net importer of food so let us not kid ourselves . Also air transport of food is quite expensive .Ogun state is not far from the Lekki FTZ and if it must export that is a more realistic option in terms of cost and volumes
This project has white elephant written all over it

You don't need to worry about the project if it's black or white elephant.

Ogun state indigenes know how important it is to them. They appreciate it

Besides, it's a three in one airport.

Cargo, local and international airport.
