The Osun State government has approved the upgrade of the Osun State College of Education in Ilesa, to a university, Siggy reports.

The state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, disclosed this while inaugurating the Ijesaland Geriatric Centre, Ilesa, on Thursday.

According to the governor, the upgrade became necessary following a request made by prominent sons and daughters of Ijesa land, and Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesa land, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran.

He added that the government has also engaged one of the nation’s best corporate consultants, KPMG, to work out the sustainability plan for the upgrade.

Most of those finishing as NCE holders will still go and face the same ASUU palava when they want to upgrade to BSc., so what will happen will still happen, unless they chose not to upgrade their education.

Besides, not all public universities are part of ASUU, LASU is a typical example.

No! Most of them chose NCE cos they couldn't gain university admission... Nobody would do an NCE for 3 years when they could easily get a BSc. within 4 years. The discrimination and difference in pay grade is for life!

For long, polytechnic and college graduates have proven that it's not a lack of mental equivalence that makes them have a lesser qualification than their degree counterparts, it's insufficient universities and unfairness in the admission process...
