Something is wrong with this country, how can the government allow the press to have such sensitive information?, and why would the press out of stupidity voice this kind of information Out.
That is a security breach. As if the media incompetence is not enough, the caption made it look as if it will be exclusively made for Ogun state alone.

So instead of using the cheap and readily available Chinese GPS drones, we want to wait until this usually failed Nigerian white elephant project is finished?
Yes build the local drones, but buy and use cheap DJI MAVIC GPS drones that cost next to nothing and can be used immediately to monitor the activities of these terrorists for Pete’s sake!

Nice move. I wonder why Buhari never thought of this all these years.

With drone technology and proactive measures the activities of these miscreants will be curtailed.
what makes you think he really wants to curtail their activities?

Lol, there's nothing sensitive here and this is not a big deal, infact this won't even work. How can a drone detect terrorist when you don't have the database n pictures of terrorist.

Is the drone a magician?

What they are doing here is basically assembling a drone and adding computer vision technology to the camera, linking it to a database were the terrorist picture are saved.

As soon as the drone recognize a terrorist from what is save in it's database, it's alert the authorities their location, this can be use for all wanted criminals as well.

It's an easy technology, a good one tho, if they have the database.

The problem with DJI drones is that they are all factory configured to report back to the Chinese government every single flight path flown in real time, and every single minute of video footage recorded, all without the drone operator even being aware of that systematic snooping. That continuous stream of data commences the instant any Chinese-made drone is powered up, without the drone operator's consent being sought.

Now, for a hobbyist drone operator who has nothing to hide and is not engaged in activity relating to the filming of military assets, it matters not whether DJI passes on details of their flight logs to Communist China's spy agencies. When it comes to government surveillance that utilizes drones, however, the stakes are much higher, if China is permitted to eavesdrop on all flights conducted by drones by any given government.

For this reason of national state security, therefore, the use of Chinese-made drones would be a mistake. It is, therefore, no surprise to see that the US government refuses to authorize Chinese-made DJI drones for deployment in any areas relating to surveillance and police operations in general. Nigeria is therefore being wise in opting to go with its own custom-made drones for the sensitive task of tracking criminal gangs, which may entail the launching of drones over areas that have a strategic or military importance.

I don't clearly get your point.

What part of the information is "sensitive"?

That ship has sailed for Nigeria. 90% of the modems and routers used in this country are huawei and ZTE.
They already have everyone's info.

As to Nigerian made drones, Las.las it will be frankenstein drones with Chinese components. Maybe donut yourself drones direct from Ali baba.

We will cheer Nigerian ingenuity and shout down any naysayer.

Haha in summary perhaps we can say that drone makers have the option to use drone parts made in any country of their choice, provided that they are all Chinese-made. China already owns the tech world, but we just don't know it yet haha.

Oga the guy above is correct you are the one talking rubbish . why has this USA not release schematics on how to manufacture Nukes to the press . They even have planes they do not sell to other countries and weapons with self destruct mechanism in case the enemy captures it during operation. The best stuff they have are kept hidden no one knew about the atomic bomb until it was used against the Japs . No one knew about the sound proof Helicopter until it was used to capture Osama Bin ladeen. Our Press are just too lousy and talk any how and do not understand the meaning of " NATIONAL INTEREST" because of lack of patriotism and proper education .

I concede to your POV. However, pending when our ‘homemade’ drone comes online, I think the chinese drone can be used.
It is better to this deliberate blind strategy we have adopted. We wait for victims to be created before attempting haphazard rescues if any at all. Chinese spying on our surveillance activities is better than NO SURVEILLANCE or pro-active intelligence.
