A popular lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, went down on his knees to celebrate the Federal High Court judgement that dismissed a lawsuit seeking to sack the governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade, over his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).


On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Justice Taiwo Taiwo ruled that a governor or his deputy cannot be removed from office due to defection. He added that the judiciary doesn’t have the power to suspend a governor for defection, stechitegist.com gathered.

The judge said a governor or his deputy can only be removed in line with the constitution.

Stechitegist Recall that Justice Inyang Ekwo from the same court gave a contradictory judgement a few weeks ago when he ordered the removal of Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and his deputy, Igwe, over the defection from the PDP to the APC.....
