Please, I want to change the engine of a honda civic 1998 model so I can put it to use. I was told it will cost 150k. Though the car drives normally it leaks oil a lot. How much will it cost to change the engine and is there anything I should look out I have little experience with cars.

Car drives but leak oil alot means engine is good but seals are worn out, replace seals not engine.

Car drives okay but smoking alot means internal damage, mechanic has to open engine and confirm what is damaged there it could be as simple as only rings and as expensive as valves, pistons and co. If cost of ringing is minimal you can try.

If the 150k is okay by you, then by all means buy a tokunbo engine not a reworked engine cause that is penny wise pound foolish.

Thank you very much. How would one differentiate a reworked engine from tokunbo engine?
