Reports making the rounds in South Africa show that the aftermath of a heavy downpour caused a never ending flood that has covered the whole East Coast region in Durban. Part of the affected companies in that region is the South Africa Crude oil refinery, SAPREF.

SAPREF is the largest crude oil refinery in the country with 35% of South Africa’s refining capacity; it is also a joint venture between the Shell Refining SA and BP Southern Africa which processes 24,000 tons crude oil per day.

Reports have it that workers were airlifted out of the flood while others are stuck in the control room.
