The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, on Tuesday, said that Nigerians were spending a whopping N630bn annually on the importation of agricultural products.
This is outrageous.

What's outrageous about it? Food is important for life, and imported food is affordable.
If you feel Nigeria has what it takes to be self-sufficient, go and start a farm tomorrow. ;-)

^^ same you might probably say the government shouldn't subsidize Nigerian products.
This is not about self sufficency, the foreign products are cheaper because they are subsidized. . . Nigerian products just can't compete because they don't have the support of the government or ppl.

Importation causes trillions of naira to leave the country annually, and create jobs for foreigners. Then you wonder why they are beggars, armed robbers, and violent almajiris everywhere.

imported can be affordable but dangerous to our health in the long run. Agriculture is what everyone will still fall back to.
