1. Judas did not believe Jesus would die.

Like many of the disciples, he thought He would be crowned King of the Jews during their time.
Many times the jews had tried to seize Jesus, and Judas watched how Jesus disappeared from their midst.(Luke 4:30, John 10:39). Judas actually felt it will be business as usual, and Jesus will be alright. His intention was to cash in on Jesus' ability to move out of danger zones, to enrich himself, not knowing he was fulfilling prophecy.
That was why he returned the money when he noticed it was getting really serious and Jesus was about to be condemned to death.
Same way, many of us keep misusing the Gift of Grace to continue commiting sin? You might say, everyone in this office collects bribe, let me go and collect mine, and your case might be the next on EFCC's table.

2. Intentional sin only gives birth to more sins.

Obstinacy in sin is commiting a sin when you know it is a sin over and over again. God cannot be mocked, whatever you sow, you shall reap. Judas was stealing from Jesus's purse. From stealing, grew great greed, one that made him feel he could sell Jesus out for gain.
What is that sin you keep on commiting everything? For a good number of us it is sexual immorality, which leads to lies, prostitution, abortion and in some cases murder. Whatever sin, you are commiting in obstinacy, today is a great day to repent and seek forgiveness from God. No matter the pleasure derived from sin, it is nothing compared with the consequences of been seperated from God.

3. Was Judas predestined to betray Jesus?

No, Judas was not predestined to betray Jesus. The prophecy said, in Matt 26:23-24, Jesus answered, "One who dips his bread in the dish with me will betray me.
The Son of Man will die as the Scriptures say he will, but how terrible for that man who will betray the Son of Man! It would have been better for that man if he had never been born!" . No name was given, it was like an open cheque. The work of the devil was to choose among the twelve, he who would be best fit for the job. Imagine if you are about to compete in a formula 1 race, and you were taken to a garage to choose the car you would use, there's a Beetle, a Volkswagen, a Toyota corolla and a Ferrari, you will most likely choose the Ferrari because you feel it will perform better than the rest with less effort.

So, it was for the devil. Judas was already a thief, so influencing him to betray his Lord, wouldn't have been too hard. Jesus was already praying for Peter, because the enemy loves using those in power, John was too intimate with Jesus, he would have been difficult to crack. And, with so many reasons why the others might not work. Judas was just perfect!!

If you are still in sin today, banking on the Grace of God to escape the punishment you deserve. Remember, the Grace of God is that you are alive to repent from your sins. Turn to Him today, your sins are still betraying Him today.
