MOBITEL IS A SCAM, I PAID FOR A 1MBPS (1024 KBPS) NITE PLAN, AND I WAS JUST RECIEVING A BANDWIDTH OF BETWEEN 100-150KBPS, WHICH IS VERY POOR AT MY LOCATION IN FESTAC TOWN. AND SECONDLY IT TAKES TIME TO CONNECT , ITS DISCONNECT AND CONNECT ANYHOW. I EVEN WENT TO THEIR OFFICE AND CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES ALL WENT TO NO AVAIL. EVEN I TRIED BROWSING THE INTERNET AT THEIR OFFICE AT TRADE FAIR, BALOGUN MARKET. WHERE I GUESS THE BASE STATION IS CLOSE. STILL RECIEVING THE SAME BANDWIDTH HAS 100KBPS - 150KBPS. EVEN HAS AT TODAY THAT RAIN IS FALLING THE NETWORK IS JUST CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING ANYHOW, AND I AM MAKING USE OF THEIR INDOOR HUAWEI MODEM,

NOW I PAID AGAIN FOR THEIR 2MBPS BANDWIDTH ( 2048KBPS) 24 HOURS PLAN, AND GUESS WHAT I AM JUST RECIEVING A BANDWIDTH OF JUST BETWEEN 120 - 250KPBS. IT REALLY SUCKS AND HORRIBLE , TOO POOR FOR FOR ONLINE DOWNLOAD STREAM, SO I WOULD ADVICE YOU REALLY THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU BUY. COS AFTER THESE SUBSCRIPTION I WILL RUN FOR MY LIFE AND SELL MY MODEM AWAY COS IT REALL SUCKS BADLY.

SO I GUESS SWIFT IS BETTER , I HAVE NOT USE THEIR MODEM PERSONALLY OOOOOO, BUT I HAVE USED IT IN A CYBER CAFE WHERE THERE USE IT FOR MULTIPLE SYSTEM AND I WAS RECIEVING A BANDWIDTH OF 300KBPS OF A SHARED NETORK OF MULTIPLE SYTEMS,, CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT AT KINGS HOUSE CYBER CAFE, FESTAC TOWN.

Gogetter, chk ur calculation very well, u are getting the correct speed u paid for, really dont see Y U are complaining
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by gogetter09(m): 6:43pm On Sep 17, 2011
THANK YOU FOR COMMENTING IF I AM GETTING AT LEAST 600Kb, i wont be complaining for the service. when i went on 1mbps plan - i was recieving let say 150kbps
2 mbps plan - i am recieving let say 250kbps, its not even 300kbps

even if you do not mind i can give you my address at festac town, you should come and comfirm it yourself.
it sucks badly,

TO CONFIRM YOUR SPEED OF TRANSFER, JUST USE INTERNET DOWNLOAD MANAGER TO DOWNLOAD A FILE YOU
WILL SEE THE TRANSFER RATE, IN KB/sec,
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by samyng(m): 7:01pm On Sep 18, 2011
The thing is that there are difference between Kbps and KB/s i.e where 1024kbps = 1MBPS and 120KB/s = 1mbs so please note @malikalhaj you are deviating from the topic,  Mobitel is very annoying i cant even use Facebook some times to chat. Most times my friends complain i sign in and out of the chat and some times my messages are not delivered on chat. The latest one now is that twitter does not work until you call customer care and they fix it before it works. some times you can't even open twitter for a whole day. I wonder what the next thing would be. Also it disconnects more than 7 times a day and refuses to connect your for a while some times up to 20min,

They delete peoples complain on their facebook page but they can't delete complains on their twitter page your can lookup for numerous complains
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by malikalhaj: 7:26pm On Sep 18, 2011
@samyng we are sayin the same thing, mobitel is extremely crappy where i rrside cos the reception is crazy and i was told there was service where i reside, but gogetter is not complaining about browsing speed but he is complaining about dload speed and according to both our calculation he is getting the speed heshould be getting
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by samyng(m): 9:08am On Sep 24, 2011
[size=13pt]Am surprised mobitel is faster today seems they have finished the long awaited upgrade they been doing on their network, Make i no keep my hopes high anyway may i use am for 1 week and see the results, I pray it stays like this

I posted previous speed test before now and new one taken today.
note: My subscription plan is 1mbs
This time they changed their server location to Victoria Island dont know if its the reason for the speed

there is a massive difference on ping just to start with between the 2, which might mean one of the 2 things:

1. Either on the top occassion you were also downloading something on your pc (or any other pc on your network) when u were performing the test

2. The top occassion ISP was using vsat and not fiber cable as backbone
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by shockreaction(m): 10:08am On Oct 08, 2011
@gogetter09, you need to stop being so blatantly ignorant.

ISPs usually advertise their speed using bits per second (bps). Since it's the commonly accepted knowledge that 8bits = 1byte, we can calculate the actual speed you get as follows:

1Mbps = 1024 Megabits per second. Let's break it down to the lowest unit. I'll be using 1000 as the "kilo" multiplier so you don't end up confused, because your math skills probably suck.
Therefore, 1Mbps = 1024 * 1000 * 1000 = 1024000000 bps.
Maximum possible speed in Bytes per second (B/s) = 1024000000 / 8 = 128000000 B/s
So that's essentially, 128KB/s.

Using this we can infer that the maximum possible speed for a 2Mbps connection is 256KB/s.

You could also try to do some research for yourself. The Internet is available to you.

@ shockreaction you are not correct ? i dont think--->2Mbps connection is 256KB/s.<----

shockreaction is absolutely right !!!

You can calculate your speed using the above link. Its a bandwidth calculator. Don't forget to use bits when calculating the speeds not bytes.

I guess u've seen ur error.

I do not know about the maths - but what I would like to know is that why is it that when I am in the UK, i see up to 2MB downloading stuff that will read 34Kbps in Nigeria. Do ISPs in the UK measure a universal accepted metric such as bandwidth differently from ISPs in Nigeria - is our 256Kbps a poor man's 2MB! grin I have never heard an ISP engineer explain this convincingly to me. I actually see 2MBps per second downloading via IE. I cannot try that sh.it on a Nigerian ISP Swift or Mobitel lipsrsealed

mobitel 4g is slow today but it is still the preferred network 10k per month unlimited , i abandon swift 4g months ago, i downloaded 25gb data last week .hhhhhmmm
Re: Mobitel Vs Swift 4g Check It Out by xJaysonx(m): 11:12pm On Feb 01, 2012
The truth is that these networks are struggling to be 3G talk less of 4G. They can never satisfy your download speed. They still have a lot of work to do. The first broadband I used in the u.k I gat over 30MB in a second, yes! I wanted to download a file worth 30MB using DAP, when the box popped up where I should save I chose desktop but nothing worked, only for me to check my desktop and saw the file waiting for me.

I currently use swift though getting over 250kb per second in festac, Lagos.
