News - Apostle Constance C. Friday sends condolences/tributes to the Oyo Royal Family. Mourns the late Alaafin of Oyo.
Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 11

In his own exact words he says:
The late Alaafin of Oyo was pretty good in the use of English for communication.
Each time he made a public publication in the papers, he'd drop 1 or 2 words that'd have me opening my dictionary.

The last one he dropped before he passed on was called "Equanimity"

I searched for the meaning of that word and it says "maintaining a calm and stable demeanor even in the midst of hardships or trials or crisis"

It meant a lot to many of us Nigerians when he published it.

It still makes a lot of sense right now!

May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Much Love;
Yours Sincerely;
Apostle Constance C. Friday Ani.

Why wouldn't he, is he not learned & educated. Many pple thinks traditional rulers are illiterate, for your information they are the most educated individuals you can find in the society.
If you search, most Kings in Nigeria have either worked for the government or in the private sector before ascending their throne.

yes he did his best by marrying little girls from poor homes,he did his best by collecting brown envelopes to make his people vote for a particular candidate,he did his best by putting his children and Family members in key positions while his queen's English was useless when it was time to use his Influence as a traditional ruler to put those local and state politicians in their place. What shall it profit a king to write queen's English in magazines and newspapers for 60something years plus without any visible impact on the development of his jurisdiction.

so what then was he sitting There for rapata for 70something years plus as a king while collecting goodies and jeeps from past and present politicians

WHAT'S THE RELEVANCE OF TRADITIONAL RULERSHIP in contemporary societies when we have local government chairmen, councillors and community leaders?
