MADE IN NIGERIA PRODUCTS: NOA Ogun Boss Tasks Regulatory Agencies and Manufacturers on Standardization and Quality Control

Products quality regulatory organizations have been urged to compliment efforts of the National Orientation Agency at promoting the patronage of locally made product by ensuring the sustenance of good standard of local products. According to the NOA boss, if quality control and standardization of local products are not compromised, consumers will definitely have value for their money because such goods and products will compete favourably with their foreign counterparts in the areas of durability and quality. He said such products can then be exported to generate foreign currency for the country as well as create employment opportunities for the citizens and improve the economy.

The NOA Ogun State boss, Mr. Kolawole Obadina made this call in an interview with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, OGBC 90.5 FM today in Abeokuta.

He said further that only when regulatory agencies monitor product standards according to specifications that the products will attract prospective consumers who will derive expected satisfaction and as such patronage will be enhanced.

The State Director charged every relevant organization that has roles to play towards making cost of production affordable to brace up so as to minimize production cost with a view to making the products affordable to the citizenry. He charged the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to support the drive by ensuring regular supply of electricity so as not to hinder production process, stressing that the use of other power generating devices will increase production cost thus lead to higher sales price which may work against NOA campaign should prices go beyond what could be afforded.

The NOA boss said the agency has also stepped up campaign against vandalization of public property and infrastructure, with Nigerians adequately mobilized and sensitized to take ownership of Government property and infrastructure by ensuring their safety and protection.

He frowned at those sabotaging government efforts by staeling electricity cables, vandalizing gas pipelines and engaging in oil bunkering and smuggling activities. He called on all Nigerians to be vigilant and report people engaging in any of the acts above to law enforcement agents stressing that together we can make Nigeria project work.

On the ongoing Sensitization activity themed "Change Begins With Me: Patronize Made in Nigeria Goods and Services", Mr Obadina said apart from the media engagements, the agency in the state will also organize an interactive session with relevant stakeholders and the citizenry with a view to collating reactions from members of the public to Government for possible policy redirection for better accomplishment of objectives.

In continuation of the sensitization campaign, he said the agency will also embark on a road show to demonstrate the need for Nigerians to embrace the theme.

In conclusion, Mr. Obadina said the Agency's Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) who are heads of local government offices of the agency in the State will step down the sensitization and mobilisation drive in market places, busy corners, community squares, motor and okada parks in their respective LGAs to further capture more Nigerians in the sensitization campaign.
