No fewer than three Nigerian soldiers have been killed by Improvised Explosive Device planted by terrorists in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

A military source told our correspondent that the troops were on a special operation at the Kaiga community when one of their vehicles stepped on the IED planted by the terrorists.

According to the source, others that were injured in the incident were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.

The source stated, “They were on their way from Mara to Kiaga before they were ambushed by bandits who had planted an IED at Kaiga.

“Three soldiers died, one of them got burnt with the patrol van. Those wounded during the incident and killed have been taken to FMC, Katsina. The entire area had been scanned and no other IED was found.”

Efforts to get the reaction of the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Benard Onyeuko, were not successful as calls and messages sent to his mobile telephone were not answered.

Because they are very expensive sometimes over a million dollars a vehicle, a full batallion might not be able to afford more than 2 or 3 in their infantry regiment

Nigerians know good leaders but religious sentiments, party affiliation and tribalism wouldn't let them do the right thing.
