FOOTBALL SUPER AGENT MINO RAIOLA HAS DIED

Agent Mino Raiola has died in hospital after a short illness, according to reports in Italy.

The representative became perhaps the most famous agent in football, with clients including Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

He had been at the San Raffaele Hospital on January 12, with a statement insisting this was not an emergency procedure, but only some tests that required anaesthesia. German newspaper BILD claimed that his condition was more serious than people were letting on, but the super agent was discharged from the hospital after a few days.

The main Italian media now announce that Raiola has passed away at the age of 54.

He was born in Italy, but moved to the Netherlands as a child with his family, starting his football experience as an interpreter before becoming one of the biggest agents in the sport. In 2020, Forbes claimed Raiola was worth $84.7m and he worked with his brother Vincenzo.

Mino Raiola, the Italian sports agent who represented a number of well-known football stars, has died at the age of 54.

He was one of the most powerful agents in the world of football and represented Manchester United's Paul Pogba, Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland and AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the Raiola family said: "Mino touched so many lives through his work and wrote a new chapter in the history of modern football. His presence will be forever missed."

He is understood to have been suffering from a recent illness.
