Nigeria is currently faced with high insecurity level and this has become the new normal. Ending the scourge caused by those who are bent on bringing the country to her kneels has now become a responsibility we must all shoulder in our respective abode.

But the big question is how do you solve or find solutions to insecurity if the younger generation who are embodiment of strength, knowledge and capacity are left out of school for over two months?

Like I have always say at different fora, you cannot claim to be solving insecurity just by increasing budgetary allocation just for the purpose of buying weapons and then leaving the category of people that forms over 60% of the country’s population unattended too.

Not even at this time when we have the general election knocking at our doors, we all know what happens during these periods. The idle hand will definitely get engaged by the devil for all it needed is more time of idleness.

It is becoming more like a way of life not to get things right in this part of the word. Government claim to spend so much on infrastructure while the people who are suppose to be the major beneficiaries of these infrastructures are left to build their lives in an environment which does not give room for the right social and mental development, yet the places where most of these youths find some sort of hope and the believe that one day they might just get some sort of assurance of a better life has been shut for months.

UTME exams is just a week or two around the corner, candidates who have been offered provisional admission through the last year UTME exam into year one are still not Sure of getting their academic dreams up and running.

Academic strike is fast becoming a tradition among successive governments and none has since exhibit that needed desire to nip the scourge in it’s bud.

Building infrastructure is good but you cannot continue to waste resources on infrastructure when the people who are suppose to be the major beneficiaries of those infrastructures are mostly not of sound mind.

Roads, Bridges, Rails, Airport can never form those key elements that builds a sound individual but Education and only proper and prompt investment in education can. There’s no infrastructure mentioned above that won’t take a government over a year to put together but in a society like ours where education is least priotised, these beautiful infrastructures could take the youths we have failed to invest in less than 24 hours to destroy. Evidence of such was felt across the country during the last youth protest and of recent the just renovated MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

More investment in education and the youth is the only solution to ending insecurity in Nigeria not more weapons and placing priorities on building roads or rail.

The country must take absolute advantage of her youthful population. Nigerians are known to achieve greatness outside the shores of this country, such great strides can also be achieve here if we channel our investment properly and priotise these generation who are full of strength and abilities.

*STOP PLAYING WITH OUR FUTURE!

I write with dismay to express my feelings over this prolonged strike.

The Federal government has failed us(students) in the education sector.

There is a term in chemistry called Hygroscopy. It is a phenomenon where by a substance when exposed to the atmosphere absorb water vapor without forming a solution or dissolving in it.

Permit me to connotatively by this definition opine that we(Nigerian students) are Hygroscopic nowadays.

We are sent to school to absorb vapor (acquire knowledge) but we are unable to form solutions.

This is due to the nature and the level of standards placed in education by our leaders.

Going to tertiary institutions now is like jump and pass.
Gone are the days, education is productive.

Graduate upon graduation may not be mastery in his/her program or field of study.

Will you blame us? No!
There is no availability of good/enough facility in our tertiary institutions. No functional apparatus in many institutions in Nigeria now. No quality lab for research and many experimental works. And amidst all these defects, there have been a quagmire over three months now even since 1999. ASUU strike is now like a periodic event.

Are we to blame the striking lecturers ? No!

Our lecturers are fighting against present and future nightmare that may rock and as well deteriorate our school system especially the tertiary institutions.

There will be a deleterious aftermath on our own side if our lecturers do not stand to curb this.

We are now spending about 6yrs in a 4-year course due to this prolonged strike beginning from even our year of admission.

The new vocabulary that every University fresher will first get acquainted with now is *ASUU strike*

ASUU gave a one month warning strike by February 14th,2022 and up to now the FG has not shown willingness to listen to them or negotiate with them and solve the problem once and for all to avoid all this "Everytime, ASUU strike"

We the students totally frown at this because we are at the loosing end and as such is a jeopardy on our side.

We ask that the FG should resolve this issue before the expiration of this extra two months warning strike by May 14 to help us get back to our studies

The more the strike enlongates, the increase in crime rate.

This strike is a means of promoting social vices because an idle man is a devil's workshop. Some students may go into sorts of crime ranging from cybercrime, robbery, civil unrest and as such bringing anarchy into rule in our country.

We urge that FG should hearken unto us her children and ensure that democracy is well defined by resolving the issues of strike be it IPPIS vs UTAS, Earned Academic Allowances, in fact, whatever be the issues let all be resolved before May 14th 2022.

We are tired of staying at home waiting for resumption.

There is no government without her people. I doubt if the definition of democracy according to Abraham Lincoln is still in place "Government of the people by the people and for the people"

We students are the people. If we can't gain other dividends of democracy, let calling off of this strike be ours now!

WE ARE NOT HAPPY!

Settle our lecturers and resolve issues concerning strike!

*Help us now,help our future*
