Visionless Presidential Aspirants Jostle For “jankara” Office! by z07ion: 9:06pm On Apr 30, 2022
The office of the Nigerian President has never had it so bad! Has it ever enjoyed any form of prestige? It has always been coveted and usurped by military adventurists, civilians possessed with inordinate ambitions, and now in the year 2022 being coveted by con-artists/comedians, charlatans, dubious characters with filthy pockets and some who are being investigated for financial crimes by EFCC!
Not long ago the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced it’s timetable for the 2022 General Elections and the 18 registered political parties threw open their doors to aspirants who intended to purchase express of interest and nomination forms for various political offices from States to the Federal Constituencies.
Shockingly, the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC) sent tongues wagging as it announced NGN100 million naira fee for presidential form of election primaries; Governorship NGN 50 million naira; Senate NGN20 million naira; House of Representatives NGN10 million naira and House of Assembly NGN2 million naira, and without reservations the party defended its decision for rasing the stakes high in order “to get the best candidate?,”
Other Parties, starting with major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), pegged their presidential nomination forms at NGN40 million, NNPP NGN30 million, SDP NGN35million, while AAC told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), that forms for all elective positions for the party were free but that membership fee was compulsory while voluntary donations was welcome.
And whereas consensus opinion is that the ruling-party is selling political leadership of Nigeria to highest bidders and money bags even at the cost of disenfranchising the youths though they claim to be fighting CORRUPTION!
AND WHO ARE THE PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS?
Scanning through the list of the political parties presidential aspirants it is very glaring that the same old foxes who have sucked the Nigerian Treasury dry from 1960-2022, are still putting themselves forward to be President, Governors and Senators while the Not-Too- Young-To- Rule aspirants have been pocketed as usual and shut up with illicit money!
They are the same people who are facing court trials for money laundering, embezzlement, all manner of ilicit acquisition of money when in government, oil bunkering, foreign exchange illicit dealers, being recycled all over again to keep Nigeria (if it were possible), in perpetual bondage!
But that is not going to happen this time around because a new set of Nigerians who are patriotic and are determined to salvage what is remaining of the Nigerian project and are prepared to set it on a solid economic foundation now are already campaigning for the drafting of a UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUTION to be put in motion for the 2023 General Elections through the convocation of a POPULAR REFERENDUM!
JANKARA POLITICIANS HAVE NO PLACE IN THE NEW NIGERIA OF OUR DREAMS WHICH WILL BE HEADED BY A PRIME MINISTER IN 2023!
“Jankara” (courtesy Lagos State), is a metaphor for an existing, all-commers/all-gender market where it is presumed that anyone, any crook from anywhere – any planet - young, old, boys, girls, youth, and the aged conglomerate (in commotion), to do businesses believed to be shady, illicit or criminal, with no-bars- hold !
The solution to insecurity, corruption and all manner of crimes and criminalities rest squarely on the quick implementation of a UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT which will erase the present outdated, criminal and insensitive military presidential system in a developing nation of Nigeria NOW!
In a parliamentary system of government which is not capital intensive, emphasis is not money bags or affluence of people or wealth but on patriotic personalities who are prepared to sacrifice their time, resources, intelligence, education and opportunities to ensure the ESTABLISHMENT OF STRONG INSTITUTIONS that will lift the nation in the right direction of a bouyant economy that will stand the test of time.
The political class in a parliamentary system emerges from among the COMMON PEOPLE who were normally discarded in a presidential system. These set of people are those who creditably handle reins of power and ensure that good administration is spread from the grassroots in a bottom up approach and from among them a leader – the PRIME MINISTER – is elected.
Nigerians should distance themselves from the current charade of of money mongers who, having paid ₦100 million naira, ₦50 million naira ₦40 million naira, ₦30 million naira etc, will get into office and continue the corruption which APC government has engendered through the Love of Money instead of the Love of the People to whom sovereignty of government Constitutionally belongs!
A PRIME MINISTER DOES NOT NEED MORE THAN ₦100,000 NAIRA TO PURCHASE A FORM OF INTEREST TO SERVE HIS NATION DILIGENTLY AND RIGHTEOUSLY!
