Most times we have had many pastors and evangelists preach, urging us to become born again. What do they really mean, and why is it so important?

The Lord Jesus Christ Himself was the very first Person who introduced the concept to Nicodemus, a Pharisee in John Chapter 3.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, Verily, I say unto you. Except a man be born again. he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:3.

Even Nicodemus didn't understand anything Jesus was saying as both of them dialogued together on that beautiful night.

Now, what was Jesus saying here? He was simply saying that you cannot see or experience God until your spirit undergoes a rebirth. After the fall in the garden of Eden, man's spiritual ability and essence died. He became 100% canal, both in mind and body.

Meanwhile, God is a spirit, you cannot see or experience God with your flesh. Have you ever watched movies where a loved one died in a roleplay? Immediately the spirit of the dead one emerges out of the body, both the dead and the living lose contact with themselves. The dead person, still assuming himself or herself to be alive, tries as much as possible to touch and speak to those mourning relatives, all to no avail. The dead fellow is there in spirit but no one is seeing or experiencing him.

The only part of you that can relate with God is your spirit. That is why, you would see many people who err when they try to experience and see God through logic and physical experiences. They often meet with a brickwall in their quest, then, they conclude that there is no God. However, no matter how much you deny the existence of God, God never ceases to exist.

The Word of God is a spiritual entity having the ability to reborn the spirit. The mighty Holy Spirit uses the Word to inject life into the spirit man, and bring him into spiritual realities.

When the Holy Sprit begins His work of Salvation in a man through the Word of God, for the first time in his life, he would realize how sinful he is. He would realize his need for a Saviour. He would realise how much love God has bestowed upon him. He would also come to the realization of the value of Christ's death on Calvary. All these happen within the purveyors of his spirit man. He begins to see and experience things that were hitherto hidden and illogical to him. Though this experince, practically inexplainable, this is the foundation of Being 'Born Again.' It is not something any man can do for himself. It takes a willful submission to the Holy Spirit to be taken into such heavenly bliss.

There's no amount of water poured on the body that can wash the spirit. Water is physical, while the spirit is spiritual. A physical substance such as water cannot purify a spiritual entity such as the soul. That is why it takes the full workings of the Holy Spirit and the blood of Christ which was shed on Calvary to save the lost.

God is a Spirit, and anyone who must relate with Him must do so in Spirit. That glorious experience of being Born Again is what brings you into relationship with God. You cannot know the living God through any other means. Only the spiritual can relate with the spiritual. Being a Christian and bearing Christian names does not give you this experience. You may never get it, no matter how many times you go to church per day. You could even be a pastor and still be lost. This calls for sober reflection because many people being so much deceived are practicing religion. Religion does not move God. God is only moved by your relationship with Him.

You can seize the opportunity to see and experience God today. Come to Jesus and submit yourself to Him. He would take you on a journey to places where you have never been, to see things beyond the reach of the natural eyes. This is the true salvation, and this is the true gospel.

"...if you confess with with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10::9.

Only the Lord GOD can perform this miraculous operation in a redeemed soul according to His perfect will and power through His most excellent word... "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17

"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." - John 1:12-13

"For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy." - Romans 9:15-16

Yeah. It's something only God can do. That's the reason why after you become saved, you keep wondering why you never got it all these years while men and women preach to you. When you start experiencing God, you begin to regret the many years you have wasted in stubbornness and ignorance.

There's only one Truth which the devil seeks to overwhelm with many lies in order to confuse mankind and lead them to hell.

So many lies out there. You need to fight for the salvation of your soul before you leave this world. After death, there's no remedy.

Being born again is a precursor to being saved.

That's exact opposite of what the Bible teaches.

At Acts 8:4-17, Philip preached to the people of Samaria and they believed. According to Roman 10:9&10 they were already baptized and saved.
Peter and John were later sent to them to lay hands on them so that they could receive the baptism of the holy spirit and hence become born agains.

The Ethiopian eunuch mentioned later in the same verse got baptized in water in the name of Jesus but didn't receive the holy spirit. He believed, did water baptism but wasn't born again (baptized by the holy ghost).

John 3:5-6
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.

[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

Paul also believed before he got the holy spirit through laying of hands by Ananias.

So believing and being saved is the precursor to being born again.
Not all saved were/are born agains.

My brother, you're missing it big time.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit is Baptism into the power of God. Being born again is the experience you have the moment you give your life to Christ. You're reborn. After that you can now be baptized in the Holy Spirit.

In Acts 19:1-2, Paul was asking some disciples, 'Have you received the Holy Spirit since ye believed?"

You can have the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit without being baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Born again experience comes with a change of heart and a renewed determination to please God. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied with the evidence of speaking in tongues. It is an introduction into the power of God.

To be born again is different from being baptized in the Holy Ghost.

Everyone saved is born again, but not everyone saved is baptised into the power of God.

do you know that if this was exam you will fail worefully?

Do you know Christ meant by the kingdom of God here?
The kingdom of God was simply a transition between the old covenant and the new covenant.
The kingdom of God started right from the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ which marked the beginning of the new covenant wherein Christianity was established on earth.
And Jesus told Nicodemus, except a man be born again he shall not see the kingdom of God you know what that implies?
it means except a man be born again he shall not see his death and resurrection, he shall not see Christianity, he shall not see the new covenant.
So, what does it mean to be born again in this context?
It means to follow Jesus Christ and be his disciple until he is crucified and resurrected. Meaning, being born again wasn't part Christianity or the new covenant or the kingdom but it was a requirement that lead to the kingdom of God.

Jesus further put it this way, the least person in the kingdom of God or Christianity is greater than John the Baptist who is greater than the old testament.
That John the Baptist era before Jesus was crucified is what Jesus meant by born again.
It has nothing to do with Christianity
It is an inferior era to Christianity era, though it was greater than the old testament era.

So, mind what you wish yourself, you are far greater than born again as a Christian today, that's why i say it is SCAM.

You're seriously in error. Luke 21:17 tells us where the Kingdom of God is.

It is not hard to understand the Kingdom of God. It is the sovereignty of God in the life of a man, community or nation. When a person comes to a point where obedience to God is the ultimate in all he does. Jesus is Lord of all his activities. The Holy Spirit reigns supreme in his thoughts and actions, producing righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, that's the kingdom of God Romans 14:17.

To be born again is to be reawakened in your spirit to be reintroduced into the presence of God as it was in the beginning.

In Acts 19:1-2, Paul was asking some disciples, 'Have you received the Holy Spirit since ye believed?"
Acts of the Apostles 19:2
[2]“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Acts of the Apostles 19:5-6
[5]As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[6]Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.

According to Roman 10:9&10, those people Paul was talking to were already saved because they have believed.
But they haven't received the holy spirit yet. They haven't become born agains.

Paul first baptized them with water in the name of Jesus, they haven't still got the holy spirit. After that Paul laid hands on them and passed the holy spirit to them i.e they were baptized by the HS and they became born agains.

John 3:5-6
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

You see that being born again means being baptized by water first and then the holy spirit.
It could be the holy spirit first, then water baptism. It was so in Paul's case. Acts 9:17&18.

Everyone saved is born again, but not everyone saved is baptised into the power of God.

[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

The hs does the work of giving birth to spiritual life. That's, without holy spirit, you can't get born again.

In conclusion, born agains are those that are baptized by the holy spirit and water. So all born agains are definitely saved while all saved are not born agains. Not everyone in the time of the early church got the chance to be laid hands upon. They believed, got saved but never had the holy spirit, hence they were saved but not born agains. For example the Ethiopian eunuch Philip explained the scripture to. Acts 8:26-39

I'm not asking you to judge immediately.
I expect you to go back and see to yourself whether what i have said is write or wrong and that will require you to read your bible all over again.

It is not hard to understand the Kingdom of God. It is the sovereignty of God in the life of a man, community or nation. Very true!
But it goes beyond all these.

John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? John 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Simple !

The kingdom of God is to believe in Jesus Christ that's all.

John 3:16... whosever believeth should not perish but have everlasting life

To be born again is to be reawakened in your spirit to be reintroduced into the presence of God as it was in the beginning.
no!
You didn't quote any scripture in support of this because there is no such scripture.

What you have said is assumption from religion, not the bible.
We were made to believe certain things by religion yet we never bothered to ask questions, why am i believing these things?

Born again is what Jesus told Nicodemus

John 3:5 Jesus answered,Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

It was like Jesus was quoting what was written down to the hearing of Nicodemus that a man must born of water first, before the kingdom .

To born of water(which is born again) was the ministry of John the Baptist and not of Jesus Christ. It was prophesied that John the Baptist will baptise with water first, before Jesus come to baptise with the holy spirit which is the kingdom.
So, born again is different from the kingdom.
Born again was only a means to convey believers into the kingdom while the crucifixion was the kingdom itself.
Born again terminated after Jesus was crucified, ofcourse John the baptise was killed before Jesus was crucified so he didn't even see the kingdom in his time.
that's why i said that thing called born again today is scam, it's not part of Christianity

Jesus told his disciples in Luke 13
Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Mark the phrase AT THE GATE

What is the gate?
The gate is time when Jesus will be crucified, that is where the difference was made, the gate of the kingdom.

So, the disciples didn't enter the kingdom until he was crucified.

That scripture I quoted in Luke 21:17 sums it all. "The kingdom of God is (not was, not will be), within you.

The Kingdom of God is God's rulership and sovereignty over a man's life.

Being baptized in water does not signify being born again. You can have water baptism without having the born again experience. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature..." That renewal is the aftermath of a rebirth.

The Bible is clear on the issue:

"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1Peter 1:21

The word of God that was spoken to you, through which you believed, and through we you surrendered your life to Christ is the one that birthed you into God's family.

There's no rebirth during Holy Spirit Baptism. You need to have the experience to understand. Those of us who have been privileged to have the experience, and given the grace to minister it to others, know fully well that being born again and being baptized in the Holy Spirit are two different things.

I am not here to hold brief from any other person here but I suggest you please stop with the lies. undecided

In John 3 vs 1 - 21, Jesus Christ Himself explained pretty much all that should take place for one to become born-again, and in verse 6, He pretty much tells you that when you were born from your mother's womb, you were born of the physical elements of this here world , a truth that corroborate Genesis 2 vs 7 where we are told that man was made from the clay of this here earth. Jesus Christ went on to say that when you are born-again however, you are born of spirit. I.e. God installs a new spirit inside of you, just as He told that He would in Ezekiel 36 vs 25. undecided

Ofcourse, there is no associated made between being born of Spirit and the Holy Spirit Himself neither by Jesus Christ nor by God through His prophets. And understandably so since even those who will end up in Hell are also those who are born-again - they all have to be in order to enter in through the broad Gate to the Kingdom of God which eventually leads to destruction- Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 & Luke 13 vs 22 - 30 undecided

As for the Holy Spirit, only those who are born-again, and through continuous submission to and obedience of the teachings(and commandments) of Jesus Christ - God's Truth - are then set free by the Truth, go on to become Holy/Perfect and acceptable vessels, aka Sons of God, for God's very own Holy Spirit to dwell on the inside of - John 8 vs 31 - 33 & John 14 vs 15 - 25. .

So, it is a lie to claim that those who are born-again are Holy Spirit baptized. That lie is what has billions living in shackles pretending themselves saved. No, it is only those who have through continuous obedience of the one who who God's Law, Jesus Christ, proven themselves worthy by becoming Holy/Perfect - just as Jesus Christ commanded- through submission and obedience that the Holy Spirit is able to live inside of. undecided

No, it is only those who have through continuous obedience of the one who who God's Law, Jesus Christ, proven themselves worthy by becoming Holy/Perfect - just as Jesus Christ commanded- through submission and obedience that the Holy Spirit is able to live inside of. undecided

At the bolded as been my stand. The other fellow is saying you are born again only when you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So, quote him instead, not me.

Read my submissions again. What I have been saying is that the Holy Spirit Baptism is an experience much different from the born again experience.

There are two gates into the Kingdom of God - the Broad Gate and the Narrow Gate. So believing that those who wil eventually end up in Hell also have the Holy Spirit from their very beginnings with Jesus Christ is nonsensical.. undecided

Another major issue with that idea is that demons and devils are also a part of the Kingdom of God, so do the also have the Holy Spirit, God's perfect being who is meant to cause those who already obey to carefully obey God's commandments - Ezekiel 36 vs 27 ? undecided

2. Man was never born with a spirit to begin with. So what happens at point when a person becomes born-again isn't isn't rebirth but a new birth. undecided

Your first paragraph is correct. That's what I've been saying. Your second paragraph is wrong. Demons and devils are not part of the kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is spiritual. It is within all believers (Luke 21:17). It is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17). Demons and devils have no association with Righteousness, peace and joy. They're not in the Holy Ghost.

That scripture I quoted in Luke 21:17 sums it all. "The kingdom of God is (not was, not will be), within you.
Absolutely true!
This is the gospel truth

The Kingdom of God is God's rulership and sovereignty over a man's life.
perfectly correct

Being baptized in water does not signify being born again. You can have water baptism without having the born again experience. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature..." That renewal is the aftermath of a rebirth.
very true!
But the renewal does not implies that the renewed believer is different from anyone else simply because he is a new creature.

People like us we often pretend as if we don't know what Jesus meant by born again to Nicodemus whenever we hear people like you speak. All because the vast majority of Christians today had this preconceived notion that born again actually means being an extra-exceptional believer. So, we pretend as if we don't know and assume that when you say born again, you mean a believer.
But in the real sense we know that is not the case.
We know that no one on earth is exceptional no matter how had we try make people believe that we are.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Secondly, the Christian water baptism of today, is not the same water baptism with that of John the Baptist

Whenever you see Christians doing water baptism today, it is not a replication of what John the Baptist did in the bible

John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

No. This is it:

When you're born again, you receive a fresh release of the life of God in you. That makes you different from everyone else. You become a peculiar generation. Now, that is to say, you receive new abilities which others do not have.

You have the ability to reject sin, and when you sin, you get really disturbed. Meanwhile others rejoice and even boast after sinning. Therein lies the difference.

The error of modern day Christianity about these things is that a born again Christian is immediately expected to start living a holy life like Jesus. But this isn't so. Even Peter and Barnabas still committed hypocrisy as narrated by Paul in Ephesians 1, even though they were firebrand apostles.

The truth is that there's a babyhood stage of falling and rising when you become born again. "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby." IPeter 2:2. So, just as a todler rises and falls as he learns to walk. The baby Christian falls many times as he walks with God, but "The righteous falleth seven times and riseth again.' The frequency of the falls reduce as he grows and matures in his walk with the Lord.

Even after being grown up in the things of God, the tendency to fall still exists as long as we continue to abide in this fleshly tabarnacle. Hebrews 12:1 says we should "...lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beseth us."

There's also a marked difference between being a son of God, and being a submissive, obedient son of God. Everyone born again is a child of God, but not everyone born again is an obedient child of God. That's why Paul said:

"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." 1Cor. 9:27.

In Romans 8, he admonished born again Christians to walk after the spirit and not after the flesh.

The Bible is clear on the issue:
"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1Peter 1:21

There's no rebirth during Holy Spirit Baptism. You need to have the experience to understand. Those of us who have been privileged to have the experience, and given the grace to minister it to others, know fully well that being born again and being baptized in the Holy Spirit are two different things.
The word of God that was spoken to you, through which you believed, and through we you surrendered your life to Christ is the one that birthed you into God's family.

John 3:3-6
[3]Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
[4]“What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”
[5]Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
[6]Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.

At verse 3, Jesus said no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born again.
Nicodemus asked what he meant by being born again at verse 4.
Jesus later explained that it means being born of water and spirit.

So before you could be born again, you have to hear the word of God and believe first, that's get saved according to Romans 10:9&10 and then you can now be born of the spirit.

Hope you now understand what Peter meant at 1 Peter 1:21?

If you were a born again, it means you heard the living word of God, you believed and then you were later baptized by the holy spirit (born of the spirit) through any means God used.

Jesus was very clear on what born again means.

Being saved has to do with conviction that Jesus is God's only begotten Son through whose words, thoughts and actions we'll gain everlasting life.

Being BORN AGAIN has to do with those selected and anointed by God's Holy Spirit to partake in ruling with Jesus in heaven.

So while both are SAVED only 144,000 will be chosen from among those trained by Jesus {Revelations 14:1} they will rule with Jesus in heaven {Matthew 5:3} and their rulership will extend over all the earth! Revelations 5:10
But from Abel till today God's people will be brought back to life here on earth to live forever in Paradise! Psalms 37:29 compare to Matthew 5:5 smiley

Let me ask you these questions. The disciples who walked with the Lord Jesus, who cast out devils in Luke 9 and 10, and who gathered in the upper room to fast and seek the face of the Lord in expectation of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, were they born again?

The malefactor on the right hand of Jesus on Calvary, whom Jesus promised, 'Today, you shall be with me in paradise." Was he born again?

I maintain the position of the scriptures that a man is saved by the word of faith and empowered by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Many who are not baptised in the Holy Spirit would make heaven as the malefactor did. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate experience from being born again. The disciples were born again before the day of Pentecost. The European Eunuch to whom Philip preached was also born again though he was not baptised in the Holy Spirit. The scriptures testified that he went home rejoicing. That's the joy of salvation.

If you still hold a contrary opinion, then answer my two questions above.

You ought to understand that the Word of God is Spirit. John 1 says, it's God. John 6:63 says "it's Spirit and life." That's what gives it the ability to birth a new creature in Christ.

Can you read what you just posted above? You sound very confused.

You were the one saying you believe only what Jesus said and not what others wrote in their epistles.

I asked you that, the 4 gospels where Jesus spoke and acted were not written by Jesus Himself. I'm trying to let you know that if you don't believe in all the writings and sayings that were not made by Jesus, then you must also reject the four gospels because they were not written by Him.

There's a lot of folly in your position.

In Mathew 28:20, it was Jesus who commanded His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel

"...and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

See, He also sent them to 'teach them to obey.'

In John 16, He told them He has many things to tell them but that they cannot bear them now, but when the Spirit of Truth cones, He would guide them into all truth.

Now, these same disciples were the sane people who wrote the New Testaments. With the exception of Mark, Paul and Jude. All other writes were the same disciples whom Jesus sent to teach you and I. What they taught, they also put into writing. Rejecting what they taught is an automatic rejection of Jesus Himself because He was the One who sent them to teach.

In Like 10:16. The Lord Jesus authorised them by saying:

"He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."

Going by Luke 10:16, you're guilty of rejecting the Lord Jesus, and the Father Himself.

Stop disturbing yourself. The scriptures say in 1Peter 1:21 that we are born again by the incorruptible Word of God, not by Holy Spirit Baptism. The Spirit of God in the Word of God births us into God's family. We become born of the Spirit by the Word.

Ephesians 1:13 says:

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.

You were included in Christ when you believed the gospel. You were then sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Baptisms of the Holy Spirit, also called the Promise of the Father in Acts 1). You are sealed by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, not born again by it. Here, both 1Peter 1:21 and Ephesians 1:13 are in agreement.
