The National Youth Service Corps was established in 1973. It was established to make young Nigeria graduates be part of the nation-building and development of Nigeria.

Currently NYSC Corps members are paid 33k every month by the Federal Government of Nigeria to sustain themselves irrespective of where they are serving in Nigeria be it a village or an urban area.
