Sorry members, if this is in the wrong section, but honestly not sure where it'd be most suited. undecided

What is a "Yahoo - Yahoo" boy? I've seen the term used quite a lot on here, but not sure exactly what it means? From the context of some of the posts where the term has been used, I'd imagine it's probably something less than honest, but what is it, really?

1 problem wit forex trading is the volatility of the market - you can make a huge profit within a short time and u can loose all within the same period if you r not a pro. So my advise is not for you to learn forex but to use managed forex account wit forex professionals. They'll help you trade wit your money and take commision at d end of the month. I have seen months where my profits went as high as 90%. Forex is lucrative if you know what you're doing.
Use the power of compounding and you'ld be unbeatable. You can have forex managed accounts wit www.damadsuite.com or www.pipcity.com. I think they are the best. You can negotiate returns wit them. Risk is minimized and profits maximized. They are good.
If all u have now is N50k. You can turn it to N10.5Million within just 2 years through forex trading. Thats 25% monthly ROI compounding ('ploughin' back your profit).

I said 25% just to modest but its usually more than that. Just to give chance for a really bad month even though its unusual. I peg the returns at 25% monthly. I rake in a min of 30% monthly. But i don't touch the funds because i have other sources of fundin like the 30k for 50k in 6 weeks wit aqua palace. That is not hyip. Its a big quaculture company wit big farms in several nigerian cities.
I also have investments in oil&gas. Extremely lucrative cos its linked to the corridors of power in nigeria wink

Yeah! Forex trading is really great, I just got introduced into it. However, let's give our Nairalander from the Uk some more answers o his question-

What is a "Yahoo - Yahoo" boy? I've seen the term used quite a lot on here, but not sure exactly what it means?

To add to what has already been said about "Yahoo-Yahoo Boys" They are Guys (and sometimes even babes!) who go on the net, bearing fictitous names to send out Scam mails to unsuspecting and gullible folks making claims usually about a business deal into which they invite thier victims to be part of( Me keep wondering why these victims respond to such unsolicited mails). Their offers are usually very attractive and juicy to the extent that these victims agree to become part of the business and send money to the "Yahoo-Yahoo boys" with the belief that they'll get to share in the proceeds or profit from the business.
Well, with time they discover they have been coned, but there is nothing they can do to recover thier money as they don't even know who they sent money to.
Meanwhile here in Naija, these Yahoo boys are making a lot of money from thier victims whom they refer to as "Mugus" or "Mayes". They buy expensive cars, landed property, etc. Infact right now one of such is using a system close to me now, taking a call from his Mugu! He is using a fake accent trying to talk like a European and saya He is Dr. Carl Edgar!
No Bi Small Thing O! grin

First of all i wonder why Layi and his collegues have to suddenly deviate and change the thread topic regarding "Who is a Yahoo-Yahoo Boy" in order for them showoff to the world that they make money from Forex.Well that is by the way.

@ Who is a Yahoo-Yahoo Boy ?
That question is million dollar question and in fact a brilliant one, although half of the Nigerian population will give you answers that indicates that they have a close understanding of the term.

@ Definition 101
Well simple but analytical definition of a "Yahoo-Yahoo Boy" can be defined according to my own dictionary as young boys (sometimes girls) that fall between the age brackets of 12 -29 years. That specialize in perpetrating online frauds that range from IDENTITY FALSIFICATION & THEFT,CREDIT CARD SCAMS,FAKE CHEQUE & MONEY ORDER TRANSACTIONS & ONLINE SHOPPING.

@ Origin of the name "Yahoo-Yahoo"
Actually the name Yahoo which is unfortunatly named after the american email giant Yahoo, was as a result of early days of the negative thrend that started around 1999 - 2000 when the Internet Bug gradualy started gaining grounds in Nigeria. The term Yahoo to the average Nigerian meant the Internet.Yahoo certainly was the most powerful and popular website then and this coincidential with the Boom of Cyber Cafes.

Since both the Internet, Yahoo.com & Cyber Cafe Boom started around the started around the same time in Nigeria in 1999 /2000. A Child was born aslo known as Cyber crime.Due to the high rate of joblessness or most youths, they discovered the Internet as a means of communicating to the outside world wivh we refer to Western world.

This communication started with Email exchange however with the discovery of the Yahoo Instant Messenger,a faster and much more preferable medium of instant message exchane was later embrassed by these ideal youths.

Initial Thrend of early days of Yahoo Yahoo Boys : ONLINE DATING & SHOPPING

Initially yahoo boys started by surfing Dating Sites, which where still very much free to sign up then as a launch pad. They would sign up on dating sites with false identities such as Anold retired expatrait in his late 50s but in most cases they faked to be foreign females living either within or Outside Nigeria.

They initially found their gullible preys  (Magas as they usually call them) on these dating sites then exchange chating yahoo IDs,this marks the begining of a fast thinking and mind bending adventure where our notorious yahoo boys begin to fake their prey with different un true stories that range from pathetic, sad tales to iminaginable abacha wealth that their parents have. The stories are infinate. However the point is that they ensure they develop a intimate relationship most times built around romance.

One Gullible always Gullible they say,Back then in the days they yahoo yahoo boys thrived on internet shopping which they refer to as SHOPPING.this simply means that yahoo boys would cleverly get a credit card details of their gullible prey and have the Russian or Ukraine boys whos are also notorious in their own areas to help them generate credit cards numbers that they used to make orders from online stores. After the orders where made they use the addresses of their prey (Maga) as shipping address that their "Order loot" was sent. The Preys house usually act like a temporary warehouse and a transit point before the goods a re sent through courier company's such as FEDEX,DHL & UPS to Nigeria. Now this example was the initial trend.

This period they lived large and were regular customers at FEDEX & UPS office here in Nigeria.

Initial Thrend of later days of Yahoo Yahoo Boys : FAKE MONEY ORDERS,CHEQUES & WESTERN UNION

Around 2003 /2004  the thrend changed,as security checks where put in place on the internet, credit card generation gradually fizzzed out, online stores began to ban Nigerian IP addresses, credit cards denied and ultimately the Maga's got in trouble with IRS and police over the orders that where sent to them from Yahoo boys.

The new focus was now the use of fake money orders and cheques being sent to the gullible maga's to cash on their behalf. Now this was an interesting point in the Yahoo Yahoo boys metamorphosis. You as why ?It tooks a lot of guts and connections to carry out this level of cyber crime.Because believe or not the Money orders and bank Cheques these folks were sending to their Maga's where what you can refer to as "FAKE ORIGINALS".What i mean by this is that the bank cheques / money orders looked real and passed a lot of litmus test over their in UK and US.Initially the Maga succeeds in cashing the money from his bank in his residence,Can you beat that ,simply amazing but illegal!!

Sorry i forgot to tell you how the scam is pulled,Now this type of scam involved a close mutual understanding with the Prey(Maga)Our Yahoo boy usually fakes to be a retired white man in Port harcourt or wherever that needs his or her prey to do him a quick favor by lending him money with the promise of sending him or her a cheque or money order that they can cash at their own end.Suprisingly most times these fake cheques succeeded in being cashed.

Once they are cashed,a mutual understanding of percentage cut is sometimes brokered with the Maga now re routing th money to our Yahoo Yahoo Boy in Nigeria via Western Union Money transfer. They usually used fake names to retrieve this money in collaboration with a top notch official in the Bank they are comfortable with.Fake passports or drivers liscense are acquired in less than 24 hours when it comes to clearing heavy loot.

However the moeny that is gotten through this Fake money order/cheque scam ends up sending the Maga to jail at his own end because later on the frauds are detected leaving him in trouble if his contact details is traced and tracked down meanwhile the mastermind of the fraud is a little boy faraway in West Africa,Nigeria to ne precise.

Now the spending spree begins and they live large like some millionaire.Illegal funds gotten from illegal means.

Later Thrends of Yahoo Yahoo Boys : THE PORNOGRAPHY & WEB CAM OPTION

I'm getting kind of sleepy so i'll make this brief,This late stage of yahoo yahoo was developed after it became clear that their reigning days where numbered. This option involves the female counterparts collaborating with the male to achieve a common goal."MILK THE COW" Now this option is actually plain dirty and unimaginable but true. When night browsing was still the order of the day, cyber cafes will be fully booked to the brim with these yahoo yahoo boys coming with their girl friends and sometimes hired call girls.

I guess you know what they came for, well its simple live Indecency shows for the old perverts at the other end in exchange for the little western union they can get in return.

CONCLUSION

Yahoo- Yahoo boys currently are endangered species now with both the EFCC and the Police after their tails. The happy days are gradually fading away as they have it very tough now.So simply put the yahoo yahoo boy is a scam artist that uses the internet to the best of his advantage however in a negative manner.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, that people often can not seem to differentiate between a yahoo yahoo boy and online 419 scammers, believe it or not their is major difference between the 2,even though both of they are both criminals.

Contrary to most people perception,Yahoo Yahoo boys are not the ones responsible for those boring unbelievable lenghty scam mails that bombard our mail boxes. Those are the handworks of online 419 scammers that keep sending us the same old fake stories of a deceased person leaving behind Millions of dollars and they need us to play stupid by being the next of kin.

These 419 Scammer are usually alot older that Yahoo-Yahoo boys and range from 25 years to 55years ,their mode of operation is a lot more complex but organized with links and contacts around the world to enable them conviently carry out their international scams. They don't send their loot through western union they actually do wire tranfers between banks accounts.
For more on their mode of operation you can check out this website : www.419eater.com

Help stop cyber fraud today, lets atleast do something to redeem our battered image.

The con usually relies on e-mail and is often called a 419 scheme after the anti-fraud section of the criminal code in Nigeria, where it flourishes.…

The scammers, who often operate in crime rings, are known as “yahoo-yahoo boys,” because the frequently use free Yahoo accounts.

The term "Yahoo- Yahoo" boys was coined after the Yahoo web portal because back then in the late 90's and early 2000's ,due to the average Nigerian presumption that the Internet was only about browsing Yahoo website.

However to a certain degree the use of Yahoo Instant Messenger as the primary means of instant messaging known as chat also influenced the name "Yahoo-Yahoo".But certainly i can tell you that most yahoo boys do not use yahoo email accounts alone to perpetrate online scams.

Yahoo has a policy to deactivate email accounts it suspects to be used for fraudulent activities.

No vex. I'll reply today. My gmail dey mess up. In the meantime, you can call mr cliff (owner of www.damadsuite). He trades for banks. You can also use the great Nairaland user stallion. He's an fx manager wit www.interbankfx.com. I use him. They are professionals. But u need to have cash for u to be taken serious. You'll have online access to your acct but they'll be doing d trading for u. They are experienced. You can expect at least 50% profit monthly.

To all the yahoo yahoo boys out there. Invest what you have made and quit. Believe me if u can set aside half a million and leave it to compound for 3-4 years, you'll make close to a billion (if u invest right).
Forex is very lucrative because of the power of leverage
Making billions through forex is not difficult. The only problem is repatriating your funds because of the money laundering policies of cbn/efcc/ndlea etc. So a usa acct is preferable to a domiciliary acct. However If all u can get is a dom. account, you can withdraw your money from your fx acct in batches.

True lots of half trained forex traders aint worth their salt. They teach rubbish and sometimes trade wit peoples money and loose. the forex market is highly technical and requires patience. People loose just as others gain. knowlegde makes the difference.

Please i hands off totally from this. I eat all my words o. Please forex is not lucrative again o, abeg. Dont bother emailing me because my image is more important than all this rubbish insinuations born out of halfbaked research from 'puffed egos'.

To all the sensible Nairaland Users. I'm sorry for the strong language. Just a bit infuriated. Others like the famous Mr Ibidapo lawal of www.forexexposed.com earns 5 figures (in dollars) from Forex. Actually, FOREX is very real.  The only possible scam that may exist (or already exists) is some sweet-talking so-called FOREX expert collecting money from unsuspecting folks and offering to help them trade the market with juicy promises of high ROI within the shortest time possible, and before the 'donor' realizes, the 'expert' zooms off.

And talking about Layi, he's a well-respected member of this forum (he's been here since 2005), and I trust he'll never do any of the things you suspect of him.  His talking about the wealth he has amassed from the FX market should not be seen as boasting.  For those of us that know him better, we know that's his own unique style of motivating the hopeless and clueless.
Re: Who Is A Yahoo-Yahoo Boy? by gbengaijot(m): 9:25pm On Aug 11, 2007
Actually Layi is right to say that you can make money in forex. I personally trade forex and i am quite good( to some certain extent) at it. I don't use managed accounts, but i manual trade myself.

While you can make an outrageous profit, you can also lose everything within a space of ten minute. It requires lot of forex intelligence to be a pro.

I feel that we all shoul not get excited with it all. Forex is not for everyone. It will never be.

Now some shud be asking, How can I get started on this lucrative business rather than condemning without foresight. It's rather intriguing knowing that we're blinded. Whoever that's not got anything doing shud think of a way out and that way is FX. It's the bomb in our generation now and hey, Im aiming for the six figure income in FX, Thanks Layi for helping to remove the speckle from their eyes,

I wish i did but some folks are just amazing, making unfound allegations and playin oversmartness (smelling scam everywhere).

Forex isnt a new thing. we've all heard about it. i wonder how some folks will say forex is scam. it amazes me. If u don't want to give anyone money, you can go all alone. There are materials all over the internet for you to study. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of testimonials abound all over the net but rather than make research they are quick to type rubbish, itchy fingers. I'm just surprised some olks dont just believes anything in Nigeria again.

Na wa for this "if-i-am-not-making-it-others-cannot-make-it" syndrome. Think Big folks. Nothing is impossible!
