2023: Ambassador Ogbuewu Joins Ebonyi Central Senatorial Race by Centralmedia: 9:03am On May 10, 2022
The former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ambassador Frank Nchita Ogbuewu, has picked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Expression of Interest/Normination Form, to represent Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone at the National Assembly in 2023. He took this free-swinging step at the early hours of Monday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Plot 1970 Michael Okpara Street, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

Ambassador Ogbuewu was on the 26th day of December, 2021, declared to represent the Zone at the National Assembly in 2023. He has consulted widely, and many groups, Local Governments, Statesmen, and different People have endorsed him. He is the first and only Aspirant so far from the zone to pick form, and also, the first to pick Senatorial form in the whole of Ebonyi State.

The Former Minister has served as a Local Government Chairman, Ambassador, Chairman of Ebonyi State Elders Council, and Chairman Governing Council/Pro-chancellor of Ebonyi State University Abakaliki. Ambassador Ogbuewu is a bank of experience, with high leadership qualities that distinguished him from others. He has made a landmark achievements in various positions he has occupied, as he has never left an office without an indelible footprint.

There are so many reasons that informed the decision of Ambassador Ogbuewu to offer himself for the good of Ebonyi Central;
His quest to give Ebonyi Central an effective legislation,
His desire to save the zone, through legislative activism,
His political and leadership dexterity, that can save Nigeria at this point we are,
The fact that his Local Government (Ikwo), which is the largest Local Government in Ebonyi State, with the highest number of political Wards, has never produced a Senator.
And his quest to balance the gap of inequality, and make his zone to feel represented.

It may not interest some ears to hear that the most populated Local Government in Ebonyi State has never produced a Senator, even when people still identify Dr Emmanuel Onwe as a Senator till date.
The truth is that, Dr Emmanuel Onwe challenged the outcome of the 2007 election that ushered in Senator Julius Ali Ucha as Senator in Court. The case lasted till July, 2010.

On 16th July 2010, the Court of Appeals in Enugu declared that Dr Emmanuel Onwe was the duly elected candidate to represent Ebonyi Central, and he took an oath of office on 10th August, 2010.

Exasperatedly, On January 2011, the Nigerian Supreme Court overturned Senator Onwe’s victory in the appeals court. This is someone that took an oath of office in the Month of August. Although, a day spent at the red chamber of the National Assembly has automatically made one a Senator, but, the truth remains that Ikwo has not produced a Senator.
