A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that triggers severe physical reactions when there is no real danger or apparent cause. Panic attacks can be very frightening. When panic attacks occur, you might think you're losing control, having a heart attack or even dying.
Many people have just one or two panic attacks in their lifetimes, and the problem goes away, perhaps when a stressful situation ends. But if you've had recurrent, unexpected panic attacks and spent long periods in constant fear of another attack, you may have a condition called panic disorder.

Although panic attacks themselves aren't life-threatening, they can be frightening and significantly affect your quality of life. But treatment can be very effective.
Symptoms
Panic attacks typically begin suddenly, without warning. They can strike at any time — when you're driving a car, at the mall, sound asleep or in the middle of a business meeting. You may have occasional panic attacks, or they may occur frequently.

Panic attacks have many variations, but symptoms usually peak within minutes. You may feel fatigued and worn out after a panic attack subsides.

Panic attacks typically include some of these signs or symptoms:

Sense of impending doom or danger
Fear of loss of control or death
Rapid, pounding heart rate
Sweating
Trembling or shaking
Shortness of breath or tightness in your throat
Chills
Hot flashes
Nausea
Abdominal cramping
Chest pain
Headache
Dizziness, lightheadedness or faintness
Numbness or tingling sensation
Feeling of unreality or detachment
Causes
It's not known what causes panic attacks or panic disorder, but these factors may play a role:
Causes
Genetics
Major stress
Temperament that is more sensitive to stress or prone to negative emotions
Certain changes in the way parts of your brain function
Poverty
I know many of us had panick attack without letting any one know about it mine was when i was 15 I started developing fear for no reason, I was just afraid for no reason my heart beat increased, for more than 2months I can't sleep, I can't eat well, my brother had his own around 13 or 14yrs old when he was bitten by dog and he suffered panick attack for nearly a year, he told me he was thinking he will die even after assuring him that nothing will happen to him, he still have the fear in him.... I summoned courage to tell my father about my fears he then told me that it also happened to him so I think mine is genetic....
I think panic attack should be taught in schools so students will know about it and how to manage it

I newly joined the workforce in my church that year in school.
I was told to read the announcement, and I went to the pulpit and started reading.
Note, before then I have no issues of public speaking, I taught in secondary school and all, so I am not new to this. But still my first time in an official gathering.
But during that service, as I stepped on the pulpit and saw the congregation, I froze.
I went blank and empty, I couldn't even read a complete sentence.
The words got stucked in my mouth, I try to pronounce the words but it was as if, I was choked by an invisible person.
I noticed I don fvck up, just like in movies, I couldn't see the words on the paper anymore. Everything became blur and dark.
I think I was about to pass out.
But I managed to say somethings that are stupid and then I left the pulpit. I was embarrassed.
The student pastor called me and told me what'sup up na.
He said I will take the announcement next service. Thesame thing happened again, but this time things became better, I struggled to read the three sentences.
I later became an expert in public speaking in the university days. I got praises from professors times without number of how I presented my works beautifully and skillfully.

I hated that pastor for embarrassing me, he kept giving me announcement to read for three weeks in a row. I never knew he was forcing me to learn to overcome my fears and build myself.
I was told countless time that I was a good teacher in the Sunday school, some will come after the service to thank me for the message. I would go on and preach a sermon still in that same church
