Never bet against tech... E get why

A while ago I watched the video of Bill Gates being mocked by a TV host for believing in the internet as far back as the 90s.

The TV host just like a lot of observers at that show could not believe that the internet would grow to replace all the analog means of transmitting and storing information that he listed out.

Even though during the video he(the TV show host) commented that it is very easy to criticize what you can't understand.

But looking back at the mentality of 90s people through that video, it is easy to understand why humans find it difficult to imagine the future. Only few are crazy enough to.

The guy was all about how powerful telephone is and how the "troubled chatrooms" as he called them would not be able to replace conference telephone calls.

People were laughing. It's a mystery how Bill Gates maintained composure.

In the 90s people saw emails as a big joke. "Like! For crying out loud, what happened to post offices and faxhuh!".

The internet was there but it's content was so underdeveloped it was normal to hear people who felt they were doing something serious with their lives say things like: "You expect me, a businessman pursuing so much to be wasting my time on the internet?"

Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and a lot of other people were mocked for believing that the internet will amount to anything good.

Well things are different now. In the next 20 years? Things will be a lot different. You might not really understand if you don't follow trends and innovations.

ATMs came into Nigeria officially in 1989, but it wasn't until 2003 or so that they started gaining popularity. Right now, any bank branch without functioning ATMs will have angry customers.

ATMs replaced a lot of bank staff.

As far back as 10 years ago, retail shops in Germany were completely run by just cameras and robots. You walk in, pick your stuff and pay at the counter with no human being in sight except you.

Same with filling stations. As usual, our country is far behind but I pray that when this tech arrives Nigeria, it won't take the job that puts daily bread on your table or put your kids who will studying courses that lost relevance 20 years before at risk of hunger.

Be it crypto, Blockchain, FinTech, NFTs, AI (you'll be funny to bet against this one) , whatever it is... Don't bet against tech.

I know wetin I dey see.

If you're interested in tech, I would suggest you head over to pdfdrive dot com and download the book - Visions , How Science Will Revolutionize The 21st Century by Michio Kaku

Still remains one of my favorite books of all time.

Read and open your eyes to see what some people are seeing.

For example... Check the image attached to this thread.

You could send me an email if you would like a course that would help you get started with web development
