May 14th 2022 was an impactful Saturday for grassroots football as sponsors and contributors from every corner of the world converged for the 2022 Merrybet5Stars Premier League conference which was held at the Capital Bar, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The 2022 season which kicks off on June 11, 2022 will run to November 11, 2022. The football tournament is scheduled to take place is Abuja, Ibadan & Lagos respectively.

It was a glitzy event as speakers from top agencies and brands such as the Merrybet Gold Ltd, Transcorp Hilton, Nigeria Nationwide League One (a subsidiary of NFF), Sports Unlimited Enterprise (USA), Aplus Sports Limited (UAE), Futsal, SuperSport, BBC Sports, Africa Sport On, Ben TV London, AIT, NTA, ITV, Channels Television, Daily Trust, Leadership Newspaper, Pulse TV gave insights on the role of grassroots football in the development of quality talents in Nigeria and Africa.

Also, in attendance at the press conference were the delegates of the 16 registered Federal Capital teams for the 2022 Merrybet 5Stars Premier League.

The conference also provided an overview of the types of cumbersome rewards this initiative could attract, and the recognition it will get from the world football body and promoted a reflection on the role of talent development in the very structure of football and sports in general, addressing how the partnership of Merrybet Gold Ltd and 5Star Football is playing the role of government in the development of football talents in Nigeria.

Moments from the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 season of the expanded Merrybet5Stars Premier League.

The 2022 season of the Merrybet 5Stars Premier League kicked off on June 11, 2022 with a glamorous opening ceremony which took place at Astro Turf, Wuse Zone 3 Abuja.

It was a colorful event in honor of grassroots football with several dignitaries from the Sports industry in attendance including representatives from top Nigerian media companies such as SuperSport, AIT, NTA, TVC, Pulse TV, Daily Trust, and Punch Newspapers.

The football tournament is scheduled to take place in Abuja, Ibadan & Lagos respectively, and will come to an end with a closing ceremony on November 11, 2022.
