Ukraine's Armed Forces have driven the Russian military out of the town of Toshkivka in the Luhansk region and fortified their positions.
Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"In Toshkivka, Ukraine's Armed Forces knocked out the Russians and fortified their positions," he wrote.
Ukrinform reported earlier that Russia involved 25 battalion tactical groups, or about 12,500 troops, for an assault on the Luhansk region, with the regional center of Sievierodonetsk being destroyed by aircraft and all available weapons.
Luhansk region is constantly under fire from the Russian army. Many houses, infrastructure facilities, educational institutions and hospitals in the region have been destroyed. According to the Haidai, until recently there were more than 40,000 civilians in the region who refused to evacuate.

this is apparently lie, there is no such news any where. most of Russia offensive is in sivereodonetsk

I have said it before. At worst for Ukraine, Donbas will be a stalemate as it has been since 2014. The fighters there are battle-hardened!!!

They don't have any need for Torshkivka

Take Zolote and gain access to the Hirske road to Lisichansk which will further tighten the noose on Lisichansk just like Severedonesk.

Torshkivka will be naturally overrun, it's a small settlement already enveloped from all side and an unwanted distraction

without Torshkivka how are they going to encircle severeodonetsk,. fully knowing that Russia has thrown more forces in that direction. that means Ukraine is breaking the encirclement.

Between Torshkivka to Severedonesk are huge swathes of swampland....no army can operate on swampland

Severedonesk is a river town at the opposite(northern) bank of donets river and only 3 land bridge to Severedonesk, 1 is out of use, 1 is under Russian Control and 1 has been damaged with shelling

I've told you. The space between Torshkivka to Severedonesk is swampy and they can't deploy Artillery there if they wanted to so it's of no strategic importance to the operation at Severedonesk

I also shared a map with you where you can see Torshkivka position on the southern bank of the donets River while Severedonesk is on the other bank.

The bridge linking Severedonesk across the river to the southern bank is at Lisichansk.
