EVERY FOUL PLAY HAS A CONSEQUENCE AND APC WISHES TO EAT THEIR CAKE AND HAVE IT AGAIN.

Amidst the tussle for centre core of the special convention yet to come, every angle of the party has continued to wield it's swords of manipulation to ensure that their end gets hold of the most prestigious of offices in the land.

From the manoeuvres of the National Assembly to the stance by the Buhari led exco, in as much as everybody is working towards their personal interests, they have gradually continued to pull away from the main issue: the interest and aspirations of the party especially in that of the general elections.

The National Assembly in whatever that has continued to beat their drums refused to acknowledge the concerns of the president in terms of striking off the section of the electoral act that mandates appointees to resign before they contest in primaries. Feeling that they have outplayed the president, they forgot that they had left an important aspect of the electorate in primary elections: statutory delegates.

The statutory delegates includes party officials, elected government officials under the platform of the party as well as some former elected government officials.

The leaving out of these sections of people means that members of the National assembly, Governors, the President, House of assembly members, elected local government chairmen as well as party officials in very sensitive positions will be automatically left out in the decision to pick flag bearers of the party.

The President's refusal to sign the amended electoral bill as brought to his before for over a week now might spell as a target to some Presidential aspirants; this will not only shut down their influence but would also reduce the number of delegates in key areas at which they control.

But every action whether good or bad has a consequence. Party faithfuls who should turn out as statutory delegates especially in state and LGA levels have become like men with swollen faces.

This has become a slap to their faces as they have been rendered redundant; nothing would be more painful if party officials who have been faithful to the course would lie back and watch as Ad-hoc delegates who have not been there from the word go will be assembled to decide the fate of the party and it's candidates.

All over the federation, men and women of the APC have become disgruntled and frustrated at the junction of this dangerous crossroad; many are promising to jump ship if this foolery in the name of political manipulation and jingoism is left to stand.

In the light of it, some party officials, especially in the local government level, who have access to the delegate list has started changing the names initially submitted to suit their lobbying leverage and facilitate the ease of winning for aspirants who would pay more for the turn of events to be in their favour.

But there is one sensitive mistake that many of these officials are making which would cost the APC a lot by the time the primary and general elections are over: These party officials are fixing their own names and the names of others who are also excos of the party that they feel are loyal to them into the Ad-hoc delegate list.

This move goes and is contrary to directives that no party Officer/Exco is to be found in the Ad-hoc delegate list.

If they go through with this impunity, it would eventually be good grounds for litigation by losers of the primaries which would hurt the APC greatly.

Mr. President, the National Assembly caucus of the APC and Progressive Governors should better find a common foot before it is too late. There is a lot at stake and we cannot continue shooting ourselves in the foot. An implosion of the party has been continuously predicted, it's very necessary that we be properly guided.
