Russia's invasion of Ukraine has entered its most active phase, Ukrainian Defence Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk has said.

Russian troops are just 16 miles away from encircling Ukraine's elite special forces in a potential major victory for Vladimir Putin in the Donbas.

Mr Motuzyanyk said Russian forces had not given up attempts to cross the river.

"Now we are observing the most active phase of the full-scale aggression which Russia unfolded against our country," he told a televised briefing.

"The situation on the [eastern] front is extremely difficult, because the fate of this country is perhaps being decided [there] right now."

Before the war only 15 of the east was under pro Russian separatists control. Now 90% of the east is under Russian control with biggest towns (Mariupol, Kherson, Severodonesk) under their control.

The junction to Crimea has been made and Odessa is the last target.
And know that the eastern part of the country represents 80% of Ukraine financial revenues and 40% of the electricity supply. With that part captured the rest of Ukraine is of no interest for Russia.

The biggest nuclear central (Chernihiv), the major sea port (Mariupol) and the most important industrial industrial complex (Azovtal), with 60% of agricultural lands etc..

All of this are under Russia control now. Then I say yes, Russia in winning as they are achieving their goals to cut Ukraine from it eastern part and all it industries.

You think the Russians haven't learnt a thing or 2 from past history? The Russians have basically cut off Ukrainian supplies into the Donbass battlefront. A convoy of Ukranian "game changer" M777 towed artillery units were wiped out just last week. The Snake Island debacle wiped out most, if not all, Bayraktar UCAVs plus a number of Ukranian combat aircrafts & helicopters. The Russians have blown up train lines and traction power stations, every oil depot and refineries, arm depots plus manufacturing/repair facilities. EVERYTHING. Meanwhile the best Ukrainian units are almost trapped in the Donbass battlefront while the best reinforcement Kyiv can provide are Territorial Army units.....thats if they can get to the Donbass front...oh wait, the Russians blew up a major bridge.

Btw remember the Kharkiv front that the Ukrainians were busy celebrating about? Yeah, turns out it was a feignt by the Russians, drawing out crucial Ukrainian units that would've been useful in the Donbass front. Now they're trapped in a front that is no strategic value AT ALL to Ukraine. The Russian supply line from Belgorod through Izyum is totally intact as the Russians have way more Battalion Tactical Groups there. Even worse, worse, the Russians have established another supply line further west into the Donbass so there's a backup

Oh btw the Russians launched a MASSIVE a ir strike early today with waves of fighter bombers and attack helicopters.

How much of the new armaments supplied are making an impact on the Ukrainian side? Either they get destroyed on arrival or the units operating them are targeted and wiped out with high precision standoff missiles once the few ones manage to reach the frontlines.

Truth is, the Ukies have never stood a chance in this SMO. They're outgunned in every area of engagement. The fact that they have even lasted to this time is down much to the Russkies simply not wanting to go the 'bomb everything on sight way typical of American war style and victory. For this, they should be thankful to the Russians.

Moreover, comparing the current crop of Ukies with the then Soviet forces at Stalingrad is like comparing toothpicks with bamboon trees.

The then Soviet forces were highly willed, motivated and have a reason why they're fighting--for the survival of the Union. But in this case, the Ukies forces are demoralised, and are fighting for the politicians, not for the national unity, otherwise, this war wouldn't have even happened to begin with.

ukrainians are more motivated than the Russians in this war.. they are yet to master those equipment.. it take years to master these equipment.. the logistics ; repair; maintenance and movement etc
