10 Tips For A Successful Car Transport To Or From Georgia by Guestpost786: 2:48pm On May 25, 2022 |
If you’re planning to move your car from one state to another, finding the right car transport company can seem like a difficult task. Whether you’re moving in-state or out-of-state, there are many things to consider, including how much you’ll pay and how long it will take the car to arrive at its destination point. In order to ensure that your car transport goes as smoothly as possible, take into account these 10 tips for a successful car transport from Georgia to another state or vice versa. 1) Why car shipping companies prefer certain vehicles In addition to hauling specific makes and models, auto transport companies have an array of different requirements when it comes to your vehicle. The type of carrier will depend on where you’re shipping your car, what its condition is like, how big or small it is and even how much you paid for it! Most professional car haulers will ask you some basic questions about your vehicle to determine which carrier is best suited for your needs. 2) How do they prepare my vehicle? Before your vehicle can be shipped, it must first be prepared by a licensed professional. There are several steps that go into preparing your vehicle; many shippers have their own pre-shipment checklist. The main elements that should be considered before shipping are as follows: checking tire pressure, loading personal belongings, cleaning interior/exterior, and filling fuel tank (if necessary). 3) What if I have problems with insurance coverage? Don’t let your insurance coverage be a roadblock to transporting your car. Even if you have comprehensive auto insurance, it may not cover you during transport. If you don’t have collision and comprehensive, get it; comprehensive will protect your vehicle in case of an accident while being transported. Collision will protect your vehicle if it is damaged during transport by another party. 4) Are there hidden charges in my quote? It’s important to read any quote you receive with a fine-tooth comb, and that means looking out for hidden charges. While it’s true you should expect some of these fees, like licensing costs and fuel surcharges, if you think there may be other unlisted fees in your quote, call your transporter and confirm. If they don’t answer these questions satisfactorily when asked (and they shouldn’t be rude about it), shop around until you find someone who will. These are factors that can affect them cost of shipping. 5) Can I negotiate the price? One of the advantages of using car shipping services is that you can negotiate pricing. For example, you may contact several companies and get quotes on car transport. Take some time to compare prices; if you have a tight budget, try negotiating for lower rates. If possible, choose carriers that offer flat-rate pricing; you may get charged extra fees, but your costs will be more predictable and easier to manage. By shopping around and being careful with your budgeting, you can enjoy lower rates without compromising on quality. 6) How long will it take to get my vehicle shipped? The time it takes depends on where you're shipping your vehicle. In most cases, expect your vehicle to arrive within three weeks of pick-up. However, in some instances and during peak seasons, shipments can take longer. Be sure to plan well ahead of time if you want your car delivered by a certain date! 7) Can I book at the last minute? Sure! The more you plan ahead, however, the better. That said, we can still often accommodate last-minute bookings (and often at very reasonable rates) if you contact us quickly. It’s best to get in touch with our team at least two weeks before your vehicle needs transport—though if your trip is short notice, try us and we’ll do our best to arrange it. Do they deliver on Saturdays and Sundays? Many people assume that auto transport services are only available on weekdays, but that’s not true. Since truck drivers often work odd hours, many transport companies will accommodate weekend requests and deliver vehicles on Saturday and Sunday. Make sure your service provider offers these weekend delivery options before booking your vehicle's transportation. 9) Do they offer overnight delivery? If you’re purchasing your vehicle over long distances, you might want to consider overnight delivery. It’s slightly more expensive, but it can save on gas expenses and time—and both of those things matter when you’re buying something as large as a car. 10) Do they provide an inspection report? It’s always good practice to ensure that your vehicle was loaded and unloaded correctly. If it wasn’t, you could be liable for damages if there are any complications during transport. It’s recommended that you get an inspection report before allowing any car transport company to carry out its services on your vehicle. It’s not too much of an extra cost, and will put your mind at ease.
