Two aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ogun East Senatorial District- Sen. Lekan Mustapha and Otunba Seyi Oduntan- have finally agreed to step down their ambitions for former governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

The duo agreed to step down at an emergency meeting called by the governor in the wee hours of Saturday.

The closed door meeting which was brokered by Governor Dapo Abiodun, APC Chairman in the State Chief Yemi Sanusi had the representatives of the Awujale and Akarigbo in attendance.

A source at the meeting disclosed to this medium that the political and traditional leadership in the state decided to settle for Chief Daniel due to his popularity in the region as he is seen as a more sellable candidate of both Remo and Ijebu simultaneously.

They say they cannot afford a divided house going into the elections, hence working out a similar deal that settled the agitation in Ogun West.

Our source stated that Governor Abiodun told Chief Oduntan who he was earlier pushing for the position that it was no longer feasible to support him. In compensation, he has been penciled down for the chairmanship of the board of a top government parastatal.

Senator Lekan Mustapha on his part has been offered ambassadorial posting which he has reluctantly taken knowing his chances at the polls are almost negligible.

With the latest arrangement, the coast is now clear for delegates to elect Otunba Gbenga Daniel at the primary set for Itooro Hall in Ijebu Ode.

The campaign team of Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan wishes to notify the public that there is no iota of truth in the story making the rounds that Otunba Seyi Oduntan has stepped down for Gbenga Daniel.

The story is not true, it is fabricated by those loyal to Daniel, it's absolute falsehood.

Otunba Oduntan is very much in the race, he is the leading candidate and remains the man to beat in today's Senatorial primary election.

Otunba Oduntan urges the media to always verify the information sent to them so as not to be caught in the web of falsehoods.

Meanwhile, it is a fact that some delegates have been held hostage at different hotels in Ijebu Ode and Sagamu.

Some delegates have been sending SOS messages that they were tricked to attend a meeting in some hotels and they have refused to let them go.

Many of them claimed to have been locked up at Conference hotels in Ijebu Ode and Sagamu as well as Grand hotel in Ijebu Ode.

Just consider the following:
Otunba Gbenga Daniel is from Remo where the Governor emerged. He is now claiming Omu on Odogbolu Local Government where Femi Ogunbanwo has now emerged as the candidate for House of Representatives. So how can a Senatorial candidate emerges from either Remo or Odogbolu?

Also, Senator Lekan Mustapha is from Ijebu North Local Government where Honourable Adegbesan has emerged as the candidate for the House of representatives. How is it possible that both key positions can be placed in that Local Government?

Ijebus will never allow this to happen. This is why the Senatorial seat has favoured Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan in the spirit of equity fairness and balances ticket for APC going forward.

Triple O will emerge as the Senatorial candidate from Ogun East.
