2023: APC Chieftains Finger Osinbajo As Party’s Best Bet by Raptureminded(m): 10:36am On May 30, 2022
WITH the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the presidential standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, some chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are pointing at Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the best bet for the APC.

After the rescheduling of the APC presidential primaries for June 6 and 7, an informed party source close to the party executives said: “There was a meeting in Abuja with some super delegates and party stakeholders where it was deliberated that with all the facts and statistics on ground, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is the best bet for the APC to defeat the PDP in the general elections. “

He continued: “In fact there were those at the meeting who felt the VP is actually the only option if APC won’t risk losing the presidency.
“Some media reports had claimed that some state delegates have expressed the view that the power of the people behind Osinbajo is robust, but warned that there are some forces scheming to truncate it. What many people are yet to realise is that so many things are happening at the same time within the party.”

According to Femi Adesina, Buhari’s spokesperson, the President will ensure “there is a free, fair and credible election; that nobody would come to use money and resources to bamboozle his way into the leadership of the country.”
The APC chieftain said more than just giving us free and fair elections, ensuring that moneybags and prebendal lords don’t fly the party’s flags in 2023 is critical. The collective fortunes of Nigerians which the Buhari-led administration has worked hard to build and protect in the last seven years must not go to the dogs.

“Buhari’s legacy will depend on his demonstration of full commitment to free and credible elections and party primaries.

“The starting point is who he is going to be supporting in the build-up to the forthcoming party primaries. As APC leader, he must ensure that he hands over the flag of the party to someone who imbibes his virtues of integrity, hard work, and patriotism.

“Coming back to the issue of the negotiation that led to the extension, I have it on good authority that the candidate the negotiation favoured is Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. This is because PDP will win the general elections if any other aspirant is put forward in APC besides Osinbajo.”

Honestly speaking. The only candidate APC can present and make me vote for them is Osinbajo. If APC should try and present Tinubu, then they will lose woefully.

Well meaning Nigerians know that Osinbajo is the best candidate APC has, APC have showed us so much pepper that we no longer care about your political background or tribe, we just want good leadership. We don't want to witness from Tinubu, what we witnessed in Buhari. If they should try and present Tinubu, then Atiku will get our votes cos he's better than Tinubu in every aspect.

Atiku is not the best, but he's a heavyweight that will surely shake this election. So far so good he's the favorite for the position, and him winning now depends on the candidate APC presents.

At this stage osinbajo and a strong northern Muslim is the best bet to topple atiku.

True.
Yemi Osibanjo is the next Nigerian President.
With PDP having a Northern Muslim ticket, APC will likely pick a Southern Christian President.
Tinubu is a Muslim and can't fly a Muslim Muslim ticket, so his candidacy is dead on arrival.
Yemi Osibanjo is a Yoruba Christian from the South, and he perfectly fits these key criteria:
1. The candidate from the South to ensure that power goes to the South after 8yrs of Northern rule.

2. Power goes to South West as compensation for Yorubas investing and supporting Buhari govt for 8yrs.

3. A Christian presidential candidate gets the ticket to ensure power rotates between Muslim and Christians, and also counter/ balance off the Muslim ticket of PDP.

4. A Younger, brilliant and acceptable candidate that can unite the country. Osibanjo was accepted and he did well during Buhari absence. And he united the country.

So for me , Yemi Osibanjo stands better chance than Tinubu.

Atiku that almost beat Buhari in 2019 is what these people are comparing to Osinbajo that has never been on the ballot paper for a position as low as Local Government chairman?

Same Osinbajo that lost his polling unit to Atiku in 2019?

This so called APC chieftains are the biggest joker of the century. They should join Sabinus in making comedy . grin grin

Calm down and look at what is on ground. Osinbajo is the only chance of APC defeating Atiku. There's no two ways about it. Ask whoever you are supporting will admin Osinbajo is the only wayout

That should be a no-brainer for any politically-savvy analyst.

Some of us have said it umpteen times here that the South will be the joker and the battle-ground in 2023 which anyone desirous of clinching the presidency must win.
At the moment, Osinbajo is the only southerner in the race with a pan-Nigerian appeal and thus the only one capable of not only winning the South but also putting up a decent showing up north.
He doesn't need to win the north to be president...just a few states in the Middle-Belt and 25% of total votes cast in at least 6 of the North East and North West states combined will be more than enough, akin to what we had in 2011.

The dynamics have changed brother. This isn't 2019 when we had two northerners on the ballot.
2023 will be more about the candidate than the party.
With the strong agitation for return of the presidency to the South, I assure you that a very large chunk of PDP supporters will rather vote the APC because of Osinbajo than have another northerner at the helm via the PDP.

It's still a contest between Buhari and Atiku, thus, anyone that get Buhari support or wins APC ticket will defeat Atiku in and out.
