With the conclusion of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) which hold between 6th and 14th May, 2022, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reminded prospective candidates of the need to adhere strictly to examination etiquette, warning that stiff penalty awaits anyone who runs foul of the laid-down rules and regulations governing the examination. The Board reiterated its zero tolerance for examination infractions and other unwholesome practices that could undermine the sanctity of its examination.

According to the statement, the Board maintained that, as a responsible organisation, it is as usual committed to providing a level playing field for all candidates in its 2022 UTME. The Head, Public Affairs and Protocols (PAP), Dr. Fabian Benjamin, while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja on the code of conduct expected of UTME candidates and the level of the Board’s preparations for the examination said, ” The Board’s UTME, apart from being a medium for assessing candidates’ ability, is also used to rank their performance in a cohort of aspirants for tertiary. He added that the UTME, as a standardised test, is guided by rules and regulations that must be strictly followed by both the examiners and examinees to arrive at a valid and specific objective He stated further, “Examination etiquette is encapsulated in the candidates’ code of conduct comprising rules and regulations that must be followed by all candidates before, during and after the examination. “He advised the candidates to strictly adhere to the examination schedule as stated in their notification slips which would be made available in due course and would feature the venue, scheduled date, session and time of the examination. Dr. Benjamin urged all candidates to be at their examination venues at least an hour before the scheduled time so as to afford them the opportunity of going through biometric verification prior to their admittance into the examination hall. He said, any candidate who is 30 minutes late into the examination venue would not be allowed into the examination hall. Continuing, he said, “all candidates are required to be seated only in the allotted seats assigned to them and should follow the instructions as issued out to them by the examination officials and should not attempt to leave the examination hall until one hour after the commencement of the examination.” The Board’s spokesman reminded the candidates that electronic gadgets and other unauthorised materials like eyeglasses unless recommended; USB, fez caps, calculators, tape recorder, camera, wristwatch, bangles, cell phones, among others, are banned within the examination hall.

REASON WHY YOU SHOULD MAKE USE OF JAMB CAPS APP

It is no longer news to us that JAMB has developed an app that candidates who registered and took the UTME exam can use to view their CAPS.

This app eliminates the need for candidates to go through the stressful and time-consuming procedure of gaining access to their CAPS for the admissions process.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE THE JAMB CAPS APP?

1. It is simple and quick.

2. You can check whether your O'level results have been uploaded or not.

Note: Your phone number which you use for registration, must be available to which an OTP will be sent to access your CAPS.

HOW DO I GET THE JAMB CAPS APP

Is very easy, just follow the simple STEPS below.

JAMB – REASONS WHY SOME 2022 UTME RESULT ARE NOT RELEASED

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has explained reasons why some results of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were withheld and may not be released.

JAMB had on Saturday May 14, 2022 announced the release of the 2022 UTME result, telling candidates to send UTMERESULT to 55019 to check their score. Some candidates have however been unable to view their results despite JAMB’s announcement. In an interview with PUNCH on Monday, the JAMB Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, listed reasons that could lead to a candidate’s result being withheld. According to him, malpractice, misconduct, breach of procedural processes, and incomplete review of centre are part of the reasons the board has withheld some results.

He also urged candidates to check their results properly to avoid any incorrect assumptions. He said, “We have released results for this batch. There are many factors that can lead to a result being withheld. It could be as a result of examination malpractice, the candidate’s inability to conduct himself or herself properly, a breach in procedural process or a review of the centre.” In an earlier Bulletin of JAMB, the board vowed to withhold the results of candidates found guilty of malpractices.

The bulletin read in part, “About 1.4 million candidates have so far taken the examination across the nation, with some examination towns and centres completing their own allotted number of candidates for the year while the results of sessions already taken will be released to the respective candidates. Many candidates have been reported to have seen their scores since Saturday when the announcement was made. Several others are however awaiting theirs has the board is still investigating if it will be released or not.

Dr. Fabian explained that “To check the 2022 UTME result, all a candidate needs to do is to simply send UTMERESULT to 55019 using the same phone number that he or she used for registration. “The result will be sent as a response to the candidate’s text message. This is the only process of checking the 2022 UTME results for now as the board has not uploaded it on its website for obvious reasons.
