The thing is that he knows it's a risky game because there is every possibility that Tinubu may emerge the APC candidate,then go on to win the presidency.
To risk that and jeopardize your own tenure and even re-election bid in a bid to oppease the other candidate that is not looking likely to emerge the APC candidate(Osinbajo)is political naivety.
Abiodun seems to have come to realize this seeing his response didn't get as much traction as he thought it would,despite some grievances over what Tinubu said.
Tinubu also looks like someone that would be vindictive and play the Obasanjo format if elected.So better the governor appears at worst neutral.
