A research team led by the University of Adelaide has developed a ground-breaking new ivf micro-device in collaboration with medical technology company Fertilis to streamline the sole reproductive therapy method available for males with low sperm counts.

The first-of-its-kind gadget will enable more IVF facilities to offer Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) as a treatment, as well as improve various IVF processes like embryo culture, embryo cryopreservation, and in vitro maturation.

ICSI is a time-consuming and complicated treatment that requires injecting a single sperm into an egg for fertilization. Only trained embryologists can do it.
