Rev Father Andrew Abayomi, one of the priests at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, has shared an eyewitness account of the attack which led to the death of many worshippers at the church.



Abayomi in an interview with BBC Yoruba, said the attack occurred as the service was about to end.



He revealed that the gunshot which came from different corners, pushed them into locking the church for over 20 minutes till the gunmen left.



The Catholic Priest said;



“We were about to round off service. I had even asked people to start leaving, that was how we started hearing gunshots from different angles.

“We hid inside the church but some people had left when the attack happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital.”

I believe this narrative is fake.

1. No Catholic Priest will call a Catholic Mass Service.
2. You can not be rounding off Mass and asking people to go when you, the priest is still on the Alter
3. If the church doors where locked when you started hearing gunshots, then how comes people where killed INSIDE the church?

Hope with this observation, you will understand why I believe the said narrative is fake.
