Soyinka, Hubert Ogunde’s sons make Ogun commissioners’ list


Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, one of the sons of Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and Mr. Oluwemimo Ogunde, the son of the late theatre icon, Chief Hubert Ogunde, were among the 17 commissioners-designate approved on Tuesday by the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The list of nominees was forwarded last week to the House of assembly by Governor Ibikunle Amosun, a development that led to the screening of the nominees by the Committee of the House.

The House which, later adopted the report and confirmed the appointment of the commissioner-nominees at the plenary session also approved the proposed appointment of 20 special advisers to the governor.

The list of the 20 special advisers nominated by Amosun was sent to the House of assembly for the lawmakers’ approval last Monday.

                                                                                   
Beside Ogunde and Soyinka, others who appeared before the committee of the whole House and were cleared by the lawmakers include a former Speaker of the state house of assembly, Mr. Muyiwa Oladapo; immediate Editorial Board Chairman of ThisDay Newspapers, Mr. Yusuf Olaniyonu; a chartered accountant, Mrs. Folakemi Adeosun; as well as son of Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso Dr. Lanre Tejuosho.

Others are running mate of Amosun in the 2007 elections, Mrs. Olayinka Sonubi; Durojaiye Ayedogbon, Adebayo Fari, Lekan Adegbite, Falilu Sabitu, Segun Odubela, Olu Odeyemi, and Adejobi Bolarinwa.
