BAYELSA STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HIV/AIDS, TAKES CAMPAIGN TO ALL SCHOOLS IN THE STATE


The Bayelsa State Government through the Ministry of Education flagged off Sensitization campaign against HIV/AIDS.

The Ministry through Mrs Bridget Sorbari Ndiomu is on the move to train teachers and head teachers across schools in the State to be extensively trained and equipped with requisit knowledge of the ravaging syndrome amongst youths especially those of the tenage age in schools.

Teachers after receiving diverse knowledge of the scourging disease were charged to educate the tenagers across all Secondary Schools in the State in order to curb the menace and rescue tenage students from being carriers and distributors of the deadly disease thereby rid the society of this Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

The Ministry led by Mrs Bridget Sorbari Ndiomu had a chat with reporter of TV Africa24 correspondence immediately they visited Kolokuma/ Opokuma in KOLGA stated that the rate at which more people are getting infected with the dreaded disease is alarming which has necessitated the ministry's resolve to embark on the sensitization workshop for teachers across the 8 Local Government Areas to enable them teach the students and equip them with the requisite knowledge of abstanance thereby reducing it to the bearest minimum by the awareness campaign.

The team visited Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area as they flagged off the campaign while appealing to State Government to support them in every way possible to enable them achieve their target and save State of the the dreaded disease.

The Bayelsa State Ministry of Education said its effort to sustain the campaign for Zero Tolerance for HIV/AIDS is something only Government cannot achieve singlehandedly and appealed to private sectors for partnership as combined efforts would yield greater but positive results for a healthy society free from the scourging disease to it's bearest minimum
