Now that Nigerians are waiting for the major political parties' flagbearers to announce their running mates, it is a critical time for the parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose flag bearer is Bola Tinubu, a southern Muslim, because the country's presidential election victory is always determined by religion, region, and class factor.

However, while selecting a running mate has become a difficult nut for the APC, the ruling party has the potential of coming out victorious if it thinks deeply and makes the right choices while taking the determining factors into account. And if the party truly wants to win in 2023, it has a former aspirant who meets Nigerians' expectations: Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State.

To begin, the APC must be cautioned not to dismiss the role of religion in Nigerian politics. Despite the fact that the party must conquer the north in order to win, it must not use a core northern Muslim. This is where Bello's selection may appeal to Nigerians.
Despite the fact that the governor is a Muslim, he is viewed as North Central with a high level of religious tolerance. This is also evident in his ability to bring the various religions in Kogi State together.

Yahaya Bello has received numerous commendations for his religious tolerance from major Christian leaders in Nigeria, including the leadership of the Redeemed Church and pastor Paul Eneche of Dunamis International during his most recent visit to Lokoja, where he ministered in the Government House Chapel built by Bello.

Yahaya Bello has a better chance of being accepted by Christians, which is great news for Tinubu and the APC.

Of course, when it comes to region, the northern votes have always determined the outcome of every presidential election. Because the north has the most voting population, it is nearly impossible to win an election in this country without the North's support. Again, Bello is Tinubu's only asset for penetrating the north. In the 2023 presidential election, Bello has the potential to conquest the North Central and divide the votes of the North West and East for the APC. As a result, the odds of Bello becoming Vice President favor him.

Furthermore, based on the governor's performance in the recently concluded primary election, it's important to remember that Bello remains the strongest governor, with the support of millions of young people.

Bello did not emerge as the APC's flag bearer, but he was unquestionably the most popular candidate in the run-up to the primaries. Even though he is the newest and youngest in political combat, he came in fifth place.

Again, the APC must look for someone with a national structure and worth. It is estimated that Yahaya Bello has over 26 million youth supporters across the country. The membership record of one of the governor's supporters groups revealed this. The youth-led group has the potential to win the hearts of young people over to the APC. This will calm the youth's desire for a power shift and help them embrace Tinubu, who will be running on a joint ticket with Bello, another youth.

Without a doubt, the Labour Party's candidate, Peter Obi, has the support of the Nigerian youth; however, with Yayaha Belli on the APC ticket, Tinubu will have the support of the youth. It was no secret that about 16 million young Nigerians marched for the young governor three weeks ago.

Nonetheless, the ball is now in the hands of Baba Tinubu and the APC. Nigerians are waiting to see what the party will propose. Any minor blunder deflates the party's fortunes and gives the opponent an advantage.

the youths are coming

they have no manifestos to campaign with apart from their usual old tribalism and tribal card tactics.

But we'll remind them that tribalism won't bring back dollars to at least 400
tribalism won't bring back fuel to 95 naira
tribalism won't send our undergraduates back to school.
tribalism won't fix our security.
tribalism won't develop our economy.

2023 will be the youths vs the criminals
