NIGERIAN YOUTHS WILL RULE THE COUNTRY IN A PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY IN 2023 IN SPITE OF ‘BOLA AHMED TINUBU AND ATIKU ABUBAKAR!

Another septuagenarian should be succeeding Major General President Muhammadu Buhari in office in May 2023, in spite of his promise to hand over to a Nigerian Youth when he signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Rule Bill into an Act in 2018 - BUT GOD WILL NOT PERMIT!
The 1999 Military Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria stipulates that the president of Nigeria has to be at least 40 years old while senators and state governors should be at least 35 years or above.

But on 7th May, 2017, France – a world power produced Emmanuel macron at age 35 as the youngest European President of the century and this development prompted a multitude of Nigerian youths on 25th July, 2017, to protest against age barriers on political posts to the National Assembly Abuja, where they registered their grievances!
It was a smart move for the Youths because President Buhari desperately dresired a second time in office and so it did not take time for the bill which was forwarded to the National Assembly to be passed by both Chambers having fulfilled the constitutionally required two-third of the State Assemblies!
The new age limit was reduced from 40 to 35 years for presidential candidates and state governors and senators from 35 to 30 and the age limit for State Assembly reduce to 25.
Since the attempt to give a fresh opportunity to democracy from 1999, all presidents from Obasanjo to late Umaru Yar’adua, Jonathan and Buhari were all above 50 years at inception, and have collectively kept the Youths in LIMBO FOR 22 YEARS!

BUHARI IN DESPERATION SIGNED THE NOT TOO YOUNG TO RULE BILL INTO AN ACT ON 31ST MAY, 2018 - ONE YEAR AHEAD OF THE 2019 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS!
The Military General was 75 year old when he accented to The Bill that was designed for the participation of young people to contest elections without let or hindrance or MORTGAGED BUT NOW ON THE THRESHOLD OF 80, HAS RENEGED ON HIS PROMISE THAT A YOUTH SHOULD SUCCEED HIM!
Are the proponents of the not too young to run bill going to allow the HIDDEN AGENDA of the old general browbeat them into silence and submission when the right time to speak out and act is now?
*Have they suddenly forgotten that the idea was conceived and pushed by several patriotic Civil Society groups including YIAGA Africa headed by a young lawyer and Human Rights Activist, Samson Itodo; sponsored in the House of Representatives by Tony Nwulu and in the Senate by Abdul Aziz Nyako?
*That on 20th April 2018 the promoters of The Bill met with Nigeria’s vice president ‘Yemi Osinbajo to advocate for the presidency to assent to The Bill and there after approval was sought by the movement for the reduction in the nomination form fee as it was NGN55 million naira and that it was reduced to NGN45 million for youths to encourage them to be involved to become president through the ruling party?
*That 33 Houses of Assembly in Nigeria voted yes over the two-third constitutional mandate figure?

WILL THE YOUTHS MORTGAGE THEIR FUTURE FOR A BOWL OF RED POTTAGE?

There was a vibrant youth from the south-west geo-political zone who was very vociferous and very determined to confront the old brigade of the APC who usurped all powers with his last breath to ensure that Justice was done for the youths but suddenly lost his voice as it was rumoured that he was silenced with some very large amount of money!
These youths should remember that any particular post cannot be gotten on a platter of gold but with great determination by Patriots who are desirous to RESCUE IT AND build a brand a New Nigeria of our dreams.

WE HAVE IT ON GOOD AUTHORITY THAT THE 55-YOUTH-LED ORGANISATIONS THAT GAVE PRESIDENT BUHARI AN 8-DAY ULTIMATUM TO ASSENT TO THE BILL WHICH CAME INTO FORCE ON 31ST MAY 2018, ARE STILL AT RED ALERT TO DEFEND NIGERIAN YOUTH RIGHTS TODAY!

We therefore request through this publication that these organisations should unite to push A Referendum Bill into motion to decide a brand new UNICAMERAL PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUTION THAT WILL PRODUCE DILIGENT COUNTY PARLIAMENTARIANS AND A PRIME MINISTER AND NOT A PRESIDENT IN 2023!
