Maybe because it's a very ancient language, in African terms in how how it has been preserved. But extremely rich in idiomatic expressions.

Despite interaction with East and West, and some level of acculturation both ways, Benin Language was pretty much well preserved. Compare to Yoruba that have basically now made Oyo dialect common dialect. Common/Oyo Yoruba is displacing other dialects locally, for example, in Eastern Yorubaland. My observation visiting those places. Oyo dialect was quite influenced by Arabic and Languages to the North. Despite being preserved, simplification is more likely. I may be wrong though.

Coptic, Chinese, Sanskrit, Greek, Korean, Hebrew, Aramaic, Tamil, Persian Farsi and even Arabic don't sound easy on the ear. These are very very old languages still in use. I have heard people speak all these languages first hand except Aramaic which I have only heard spoken in audio/recorded form/film.

English, for example, came from Old German and it sounds much easier on the ear than modern German, Dutch or Danish/Norwegian that are much closer to their old Ur-Germanic language. English was much influenced by French (infusing most Latin words we have in English now) after 1066 Conquest by William, Duke of Normandy.

Brother u too sabi book. You be linguistic scholar abi historian?

I have listened to him from childhood till now. His songs reminds me when we use to live as a large family before death took my uncle and the family torn in linear direction, all man for himself. Having like 50 persons in 2 houses was fun. Music is the food of love. Rest on the Ulele Power sound.

Lol. Thanks. I'm a perpetual student actually. cheesy grin
What I can learn today is more important than what I have learnt until now.
I grew up surrounded by historians, linguists and writers. Science is my main scholarly interest.

I don't want to sound condescending but this Edo language is one of the least loved languages by me. It just sounds somehow.

However, I love Edo people.

Who are the panelist dat sits to say which language sweet or wc one no sweet? what indices did you use to conclude your judgement?
