A tanker driver named Ejiro Otarigho has received a N2 million check, a plaque, and a letter of congratulations from the Delta State Government in recognition of his act of bravery and kindness.

Last Saturday in the state, Otarigho had drove a blazing tanker to a safe location before it exploded into a fire.

On Thursday in Asaba, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa presented the award to Otarigho in person through Secretary to the State Government Chief Patrick Ukah.

He stated, "We applauded him for the exceptional display of patriotism, humanity, bravery, and heroism. Had the incident occurred at Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area, where the fire started, many people would have perished and much property would have been destroyed.

The state government will continue to honor Mr. Otarigho since he has emerged as the new face of Delta and its Youth Ambassador.

The Governor said that although what he did could not be measured in terms of money, he should know that people appreciated what he did and that the only thing he could do at the time was rescue lives and property.
