WHY IS RUSSIA BLAMING UKRAINE FOR THE BUCHA MASSACRE, WHO REALLY IS RESPONSIBLE?

In 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union were allies and divided Poland amongst themselves. Both sides figured Poles were a danger to their power in the region so took their own routes of ensuring the coutnry did not rise again. Soviets rounded up some 40,000 Polish educated professionals and military officers, took them to Katyn forrest and executed them.

In 1941 the alliance went sour and Nazis found evidence of the massacre. They did everything by the book, even brought in neutral observers through the international Red Cross, to unearth the evidence of Soviet brutality. Even though Nazi crimes eventually make Katyn into a minor footnote in the list of brutalities in the war of the east, they also made sure Katyn was extensively documented and there was no reason to believe their version of events was also accurate: Soviets killed tens of thousands of Poles for the crime of being a potential future threat to Soviet power.

When Soviets retook the land in late 1944, they brought in their own “experts”, without any oversight at all. These “experts” conducted their own “investigation” and “found” items dating to 1941, when the area was under German control and claimed Nazis were responsible. They continued to do so for years, until eventually, in 1991 I believe, they admitted the whole thing was an NKVD operation and even apologized.

We see a similar pattern everywhere Russia fights wars. In Syria, there were incessant claims rebels were attacking their own positions with chemical weapons, even though there was no international response to speak of after one or two incidents and even though those attacks made it easier for Russians and their allies to eventually win the war. Russians claim, with a straight face, their artillery took positions around Mariuopol and watched helplessly as the nationalists within the city blew the city up to blame the Russians and this fact was hidden away from inhabitants of the city.

It’s just collective narcissism on a grand scale. They make up an outrageous lie and everyone has to work overtime to show it’s false. Once you do so they just come up with a new outrageous lie.

Rule of thumb: if Russia accuses anyone of comitting war crimes, odds are they were involved and are trying to cover it up.
