As NDLEA Arrests Fela’s Wife, Two Others Over Cannabis

THE National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has prevented a 39-year old suspected major drug trafficker from smuggling 1.5kg of whitish powder, which tested positive to cocaine, in milk containers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.

The suspect, George Mike Adelabu, was apprehended during the outward clearance of passengers on an Emirates flight to India.

The drug was factory-packed in liquid milk containers among other tin food products suggestive of a complex drug trafficking network.

The anti-drug agency has, however, launched intense investigation into the seizure, describing it as shocking.

NDLEA’s Chief Executive, Ahmadu Giade, said that the mode of concealment was a reflection of the desperation and sophistication of drug trafficking syndicates.

“This is shocking. Drug trafficking cartels will continue to devise new tricks of shipping their drugs to preferred markets, where they believe they will have more financial value. Who would have imagined that the content of the tins are not milk? The Agency has equally risen to the challenge by conducting meticulous search, as well as adopting other techniques to counter the illicit activities of drug barons,” Giade stated.

Also arrested were a hair stylist Samuel Aminat Abiodun who deals in jewelries, and a trader, Nkpachi Pedro Collins, 41.

Abiodun, who is a 44-year old divorcee with three children lives at Ikorodu area of Lagos State. She was arrested during the outward screening of passengers on an Emirates flight to India at the departure hall of the Lagos airport.

During a careful examination of the bag, some suspected powdery substances concealed in the bag were recovered.

When weighed and tested, 800 grammes were found to be cocaine, while 5.5kg proved positive for ephedrine.

Also during the week, the Agency arrested one of late Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s wives, Najite Anikulapo Kuti, 45, and two others, over possession of dry weeds of cannabis.

Najite was apprehended, alongside a lady, who was a dancer for the music legend, and another man at her Gbemisola Street, Ikeja residence. A total of 340 grammes of dried weeds of cannabis were recovered from the suspects during the search.

NDLEA Lagos State Commander, Alhaji Sule Aliyu, who disclosed that the arrest and seizure was made following a tip-off, gave the names of the suspects as Najite Anikulapo Kuti, 45 years, found with 50 grammes of cannabis; Helen Richards, 36 years, found with 170 grammes of cannabis; and Mike Arinze, 26 years, found with 120 grammes of cannabis.

“The suspects were arrested at Gbemisola Street Ikeja. The substances recovered from them tested positive for cannabis,” the Commander stated.

Lol!! I don't think I can mix weed withg all those substances lol,  I don't drink any form of alcohol expect the weak palm wine lol!!!

Boil it, mix the water with hot chocolate powder, add little milk and sugar (You need nutrients cause weed dehydrates you, ),

sip that, go to bed, dream of paradise, Wake up, fight for paradise!!!

Weed and lots of food is good, If don't have nutritious supply and you smoke weed, and you keep up the practice, you risk insanity and death lol!!!

I thought Fela family should have exemption from marijuana laws in this country by now. I never heard of Rita, Stephen, Rohan or Damian Marley being arrested for marijuana before whether in their home countries of US and Ghana or any other country they have toured. Abi NDLEA no know say some families are above the Cannabis laws?

is the NDLEA so backwards that they are surprised to find drug in tin cans?! no wonder Africa is the new route to Europe from South America. these drug dealers have MONEY, therefore they can conceal the drug in anything and everything. when these people have the means to buy SUBMARINE to traffic the drug, why should a tin can machine be a problem?!

here is a damn clue MR NDLEA: Cocaine is now turned into liquid form and then courier in luggages via cocaine soaked towel/clothes OR simply in wine bottle. . . . . . . . . then at the destination, they simply turn the liquid back to powder form!

women (and even animals) are now being implanted with cocaine, YES some women get breast/asss implants full of cocaine!
