The ruling All Progressives Congress APC is in a quandary over the fate of some of its senatorial candidates for the 2023 general elections.

The names of its high-profile candidates like Senate President Ahmad Lawan and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, were, at the weekend, omitted by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the list of candidates for federal legislative seats that it published across the constituencies.

Felix Morka, spokesman for the APC, was not immediately available for comments and he neither picked calls made to his known telephone line nor replied a text message sent to him by our correspondent

However, Sunday Vanguard gathered that the party, which is currently developing its ‘2023 General Election Plan’, is weighing options on how best to actualize the candidature of Lawan, Akpabio and others in similar capacity.

“The party has come up with a plan on how to prosecute next year’s general election. We did not envisage this challenge, but we are exploring all options to see how we can get the Senate President and others on the ballot.

“The Senate President has been very instrumental to the sustenance of democracy in the country and has helped to smoothen executive-legislature relationship. It will not do us any good not to have him back in the upper chamber”, said a party official who pleaded anonymity.

INEC had, at the weekend, released the list of candidates of political parties for federal legislative seats but omitted certain names especially of the APC extraction.

The commission said it could not publish names of people who emerged from primary elections which its officials did not monitor.

Just imagine what the ruling political party is all concerned about? Do they want to bully INEC and the court as usual? Their presidential candidate without a running mate is yet to present his school certificates but APC is concerned with how to replace the names of people who contested in primary election With the names of those who didn't. Isn't this another wonder from the satanic party. APC as a party is a threat to our democracy.

APC about to do magic.

The rules are clear, inec has obeyed the rules.

The likes of Ahmed lawan should be off the political sphere. So many years in the upper chamber and nothing to show for it. Shameful

Amokachi didn't believe it was over for him at the early stage of his crisis back then.

Lawan is a gentleman.. He better look for lathe farm business to get busy with it. Once you drop from the corridor of power in a country like Nigeria, its beyond hard to restore your validity again.

I know you are not gentle, it was the money you saw at the Senate that comport your arrogance. Whatever happen to you, its God!

They can mull the action in hell for all we care, it serves them right.

You can't be here and there at the same time. Greedy crooks. You never participated in a competition but desire to be named the winner- no be juju be that?

On what grounds exactly are they requesting that their names be inserted in the list? Just crazy how these Nigerian politicians behave.

Besides, that lawan Ahmed has been in the NASS for almost 20 years. Pls what is he searching for again?

The thought of being declared a winner in a competition he never participated in is just too irritating, so I don't even want to think is true.

Lawan is very stupid.

Confused party

We all witnessed how Akpabio and Lawal went and bought a 100mill Naira form each and instead pushing to get the ticket.

Akpabio suddenly chickened out then went back to start dragging the already conducted senatorial slot with a candidate that was man enough not to step down

NIGERIANS BEHOLD YOUR APC SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT

They don't want lawan to decamp so they will keep dragging it till its too late for him to decamp because its a big blow to apc if a whole senate president decamp to the opposition party apc know that lawan and akpabio have no hope the law is clear and everybody knows that no court will bring them in through the back door
