They do worse than that. They deliberately lose some matches at the early stages of some competition and save the money budgeted for the entire competition. A former minister of sports said it on Radio.

This is why I agree with Bonfere Joe that super eagles sold their match to Italy in USA 94.

The minister said that the total money needed for the competition is usually given to them with the assumption that they might get to the finals. This includes hotel accommodations, match bonuses, feeding, transportation and logistics. Sometimes, the budget runs into a few billions like one or two billion.

And the money is never accounted for even if they drop out from the first round. So they make more money losing than winning. Could this be the reason they lost against Tunisia?

Ever since I heard it, I have lost deep interest in Nigeria football. Corruption has eaten deep into our country that they think about themselves not minding the effects it has on fans of football.

How could Super Eagles that made great Egypt look like an ordinary team lose to Tunisia who struggled to qualify?
