Anambra Set To Move From Importation To Manufacturing – Official

Anambra state government has expressed readiness to move from importation to manufacturing and production hub with the intention to industrialize the state, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports.

Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Obinna Ngonadi, said plans were on to actualize it through creation of industrial clusters for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), attraction of foreign investors, and creation of enabling environment for local investors to thrive.

Ngonadi stated this while interfacing with the management of Onitsha Business School in his office at Awka and added that measures have been put in place to establish export processing zones around Onitsha and environs with the right infrastructure to help local manufacturers engage in exportation of their products.

Earlier, the Director General of Onitsha Business School, and the international coordinator, Nigeria Exporters Consortium (NEXCON), Professor Olusegun Oludapo Sogbesan, said his team was ready to work with the state government.

Best of luck to them

The FG needs to solve this poor power supply situation in Nigeria, it will drive down the cost of running factories and business and will reduce the demand for petrol in general.

If any state Generate, they will be ask to transmit to the National Grid.

There is a bill in the state house of assemblies that will take away Power from the Exclusive to Concurrent list, I wander why the state house of assemblies are not working on the bill yet.

Anambra has always been a producing state but we must take it the next level where the state should be able compete very well at the international level.

The story is in Vanguard June 15 2011 read it , one among the numerous reason I support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Before 1999, the National Electric Power Authority,NEPA, had the sole monopoly of power generation and distribution in Nigeria. While there were suggestions on how to break that grip, Lagos State became the first state to do so with the initiation of Enron Power Project on August 1, 2009.

Consequently, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, Yinka Folawiyo Power Limited and Enron Corporation of the United States signed an agreement for an Independent Power Plant, IPP, with the Federal Government as the guarantor.
The barge-mounted electricity generating plant was to be located adjacent NEPA’s Egbin Power Station, Nigeria’s biggest power plant.

This idea later became contentious following claims that the power generated was being transmitted to the National Grid for the use of the entire country, instead of only Lagos and this bordered on alleged failure by the parties to honour contractual and business obligations.
Despite the controversy surrounding the Enron power project, the Federal Government accepted the wisdom in breaking the monopoly of NEPA, which has since rechristined itself the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN. Hence the massive construction of power plants across the country and the planned privatisation of the ailing utility giant

While I support Obi for the presidency, Soludo is way higher than Obi.

Soludo is just implementing his policies, he campaigned on.

Nigeria will be lucky to get Obi as the president
