He left home and his Christian mother searched vigorously for him. She prayed for his conversion for sixteen years. Then at 32, one day hearing the Story of the Life of St. Anthony (rf. Book VIII) he retired to a garden and got converted. He was baptised months later at Easter (at 33) and lived 43 years after that. He grew to perfection and was known for teaching the faith through his works in exactitude. He has one of the largest volumes of works, and is the most widely quoted doctor of the Church.
