Tonypen247: Not really. Medical students spend 3 years on campus, and 3 years in hospital..before they graduate. ASUU strikes affect those on campus, as you know. But for medical students...it isn't just ASUU and NASU/SSANU strikes...JOHESU, NARD, and even NMA strikes affect them as well. So ASUU not going on strike in medical school reduces the burden a bit. 3 Likes 1 Share |

When you vote in people with questionable educational background, how do you expect them to take education seriously. |

Subsidywise20: Which 6 years? Year 4 and 5 alone can be 2 years each. No medical student finishes in 6 years as normal duration is all am saying 1 Like |

Hahahah The core North is the worst hit by the ASUU strike as there are very few private schools there and those are very expensive. |

This is the mistake FG keeps repeating all the time. Why would FG pay those guys for the period they didn't work? 1 Like |

Re: Strike: FG Breaks ASUU’s Rank, To Release Withheld Salaries Of Medical Lecturers by Nobody: 9:34pm On Jul 08, 2022 |
blowjohn: Normally it is six years...it is the strikes by all the unions that sometimes prolong it...and sometimes mean that a student who has finished his pre-clinical has to wait for sometime before starting clinicals.... I understand why some ASUU members are breaking the strike....clinical students will end up spending longer than even what you have said...and that affects preclinical students coming up. Private universities don't have that issue...no ASUU, no unions...smooth movement. 3 Likes |

Nice one from the government. Only an idiot would resist concessions made to the lecturers to ensure the students get their academics back on track. You want a student who's spending 4 years to spend 7 years studying for his first degree, when his western coleague woukd have completed his/her PhD. Time lost can never be regained. You get into Uni aged 18 on the average, and graduate at 25. |

To fight for something in Africa is total bullshit...we don't have the mindset to stay strong And we have leaders who are over wicked and ready to drain your body and soul out So next time you think you can make a change in Africa or stand for something think again...IT'S NOT HAPPENING AND MINDSET IS NOT WIRED FOR EMANCIPATION KIND OF ENDURANCE |

Just like NMA is sabotaging the health sector, the MDCAN too is sabotaging the ASUU. They are always not loyal. |

ezenwajosh:ASUU joining hands to elect useless leaders and then going on incessant strikes at the detriment of the students is not exactly a good way to fight for something. The collective responsibility of voting credible and accountable leaders is the only solution to this, putting the right people in the right places. |

...but to be fair this ASUU's strike is questionable even after reaching agreement on increase in salaries and other financial benefit they still insist it must be their own platform for payment? I don't blame FG. NASU/SSANU should just call off theirs, FG had agreed to increase their salary. IPPISS shouldn't be an issue. Thou I heard they are contemplating on calling it off 1 Like |

I don't get it. They are being paid for the periods on strike or before the strike just because they wrote so and yet to be confirmed and audited? |

khingTony: You’re on point, my brother. For some lecturers who do not have any other source of income, they’re already facing it squarely. Some of them are now calling their students begging for financial assistance. In this ongoing strike, I think all the parties are sharing from its consequences. |

georgeakins:You're saying this, because you're not among the striking lecturers Topical mind of an African man. Reason why the government always play a fast one on us.. No unity among citizens.. If the government did what they ought to have done, will there be strike in the first place? Government is the problem here, not the striking lecturers. So,they should pay them, even for making them stay out of work.. |
